I don't know if it's just me noticing this, but it does feels like the frequency of Nigerian Nationals being caught in art of drug smuggling is increasing at an alarming rate. What exactly is happening these days?

Three Nigerians are currently being held by Kenyan authorities for allegedly trafficking drugs worth about N11.06 million ($66,800).

The Nigerians were arrested in two separate incidents. According to reports, one of the three was arrested on Friday with cocaine valued at more than N3.69 million ($23300) at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he prepared to board a flight for Lagos, Nigeria.

The suspect was said to have travelled with the drugs from Sao Paulo, Brazil, via Ethiopia before entering Kenya. He was arrested a day after Joseph Okenwa and Geraldine Nasa – both Nigerians – were nabbed with cocaine valued at about N7.37 million ($46,500) at the same airport. They were about to take a flight to Cameroon at the time of arrest.

“We searched for his hand luggage and found a chocolate tin which contained 38 pellets of white powder which we suspected could be some narcotic drug,” Head of Airports CID Commander Joseph Ngisa said in a report.

Ngisa said authorities suspect the Nigerian may have “either swallowed or inserted the pellets in his anal system” and have placed him under observation.

Ngisa said that the value of the drugs may increase if further findings from government chemist reveal that the white powder is cocaine.

Meanwhile, Okenwa and Nasa have been charged. The two suspects, who allegedly inserted pellets of cocaine in their anus, denied the charges and were remanded until Monday to allow the police to complete their investigations.

Police said they have so far excreted more than 70 pellets after being put in an observation room.

The Embassies should also desist from dishing out visas to people from certain region of this country. They've brought enough disgrace to this country.
