Tecno released its newest device in the phantom line, the Tecno Phantom A3 on Monday, November 25 in Lagos, Nigeria. It's predecessors are the Phantom A (F7) released in July 2013, Phantom A+ released August 2013 and the Phantom A2 (F8) released in October 2013.

Phantom A3 is a higher version of Phantom A+; it has a more attractive body and features a bigger 6 inch HD touchscreen. It is Dual SIM enabled, runs on Android JellyBean OS V4.2 and has a slim 8.4mm body. It also has 3.75G connectivity, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, 13MP back camera with flash technology which can respond to light just like our eyes do and an 8MP front camera.

As usual, some useful apps are preinstalled such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Palmchat and even BBM. The phone also has access to over a million apps in the Google PlayStore. There’s also free 500MB monthly data for 12 months from Etisalat. The phone is expected to be available from December and even though there’s no official word on pricing yet, we expect it to be in the range of 40,000 Naira to 50,000 Naira like its predecessor, the Phantom A+.

The phone appears beautiful; but only 1 GB of. RAM for 40-50k in this 2014 model year?

And no disclosure as to the quality & resolution of the screen? Particularly its dpi? To me, that's the most important attribute I pay attention to, especially on a screen size this big. After all, on a smart phone, the screen is what I interact with more than 90% of the time.

I bought Techno Phantom A+ and the phone is very ok. Its specs are quite impressive too. However, the phone fell into water this week and the screen stopped responding. I subsequently bought Samsung galaxy grand for a higher price of course and trust me when I say, there is a world of difference btw Techno and Samsung. Anybody that says otherwise na wash!
