when you probably spend beyond your budget for the month(especially when you are JJC & yet to fulfill the requirement for having a credit card), and you have to board taxi/train to work daily having no one to run to for help....then you will be like no place like home.....or when you start missing that your favourite dish.....Omo oga o(nija tongue), det er ikke lett(new dialect) But all the experience make it more funfull.

As much as I like travelling, but I cant just travel when the urge hits. I like to have stability, cant just barge in and out like I don't have a care.

Research shows that money/time spent on experiences e.g travelling makes one happy than spending on material things

space and distance actually helps us discover our true self. However make sure you are financially capable of taking care of yourself and expenses you would incur abroad before you embark on any trip so you don't end up becoming a liability to friends over there or calling back home for money.

If you are working and your company has branches in other states, you may as well request for a transfer.

Ok. I leave Lagos on 22nd December, stop over at Asaba to avoid Onitsha Bridge traffic (and learn a few things in Asaba), then i leave 23rd early morning and drive through Umuahia (using google map) to calabar. ( I will learn a lot about Calabar and the Carnival and....) then on 25th Morning, i head up to my Villa.....

A nice thread, i will travel, i will learn.....

specialguest:

Awww i was once in your shoes. I took a life changing decision that everyone around me was against and home became fire. I was still a student then and thankx to ASUU strike i enrolled for a networking course in ghana, notified them at home that school is taking us for 3 weeks training and i left for 2 months. It was a life changing experience and the distance helped me to heal then

The second time it happened i had just graduated from the university, i enrolled for another course somewhere in Asia and i left again this time for 12 months. I came back a better person after much pleading from family and the issues at home died a natural death while i was away. So my dear, space and distance actually helps us discover our true self. However make sure you are financially capable to take care of yourself and expenses you would incur abroad before you embark on any trip so you don't end up becoming a liability to friends over there or calling back home for money.

Am not working yet, still job hunting.I am planning on relocating to a new city and starting something small there with the little I have saved up. I am scared of leaving loved ones and family behind but I think my passion to discover myself supercedes that.

Very True!...Go watch .... Eat Pray Love....Traveling to an unknown country/ environment, does create some level of fear of how uncertain things might turned out, but also one's level of happiness and sense of freedom ...mostly about trying new things and meeting new people is priceless.....Traveling is one of the top plans on my bucket list.
