Are you an ex-convict ? grin grin

You don't need to be an ex convict to know about prisons. I have visited Ikoyi prison in lagos, adim prison , obubra prison and obudu prison in cross rivers state. "Don't ask me what I went there to do ooo" figure it out.

jerrymania: No No no Stop applauding Her. It might seem a good move, yes it is, But it is Highly Selfish, for self gain and maybe to ease a complex or a syndrome of sort. If she read her Bible very well and heeded the Word of God, she would know what Jesus Christ commanded us, When Your right hand does a good deed dont let your left hand know about it. But considering the highly capitalist world we live in, we forgo Jesus word. Castrate or castigate me for all you like, but would you do the same to Jesus who gave us the charge?

Wassup with the cameras these days, if u wanna giv, give, nobody has to see you giving 10 packs of noodles. Giving is motivated by love, not publicity stunts, Going by the bible, i say you already have ur reward, nairaland front page, thats all.

How sure are we that the items donated would be used by the prisoners? I don't trust those officials one bit, treating prisoners as sub-humans comes with their work portfolio.

The problem is that there's not enough to go round. Yeah, the wardens would shamelessly fight for the gifts too

There is no logic whatsoever in celebrities visiting prisons....

Why should criminals be given gifts and attention?

As someone else pointed out, there are deserving places like orphanages, hospitals, etc.....

We most times do many things in this country that aren't well thought of.......

kambili999: ori ewure. Which one u don visit? Isi ewu

There is no sense or logic for a ''celebrity'' to be visiting prisons. Prisoners are criminals and are there for a reason. They committed heinous crimes against their fellow citizens, hence why they are there.....

If she is concerned with prison welfare, she could use her profile to raise awareness on prison reforms. Doing that is more progressive and sensible....

Where in a sane society do you see celebrities going to prisons to give out gifts? There are law abiding flood victims, homeless, sick, unprivileged people she could help.

just because you go to prison doesnt mean you have to lose your simple human rights
Re: Monalisa Chinda Visits Kirikiri Prison, Lagos by onila(f): 10:54pm On Dec 07, 2013
It's too bad that some countries just see inmates as animals and treat them as such. I know prison is supposed to be punishment for the crime but it should also be about real mental health evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. Maybe then there wouldn't be so many people that keep re-offending and going back to prison over and over. If you're treated like an animal and given no hope, why try? If you're treated with compassion, proper mental health care and given hope, things get better.
