71 This is weird film. It's not what I would clarify as an action film, yet there wasn't a single scene where I wasn't feeling stressed out. Jack O'Connell killed it as the protagonist, a hapless young soldier that found himself in an hostile environment, and must navigate the murky waters of lies and deception, whilst relying solely on his training, instinct, determination, and good fortune, to get out alive. I've seen a number of films based on the "troubles", an ethno-nationalist conflict in Northern Ireland during the late 20th century, this movie is possibly the most non-biased one yet. I loved that it didn't go political, and also deviated from doing the cliched right and wrong routine, after all, in war, there are no winners, only survivors. Overall, it's a brilliant piece. City Hunter- I decided to kuku finish the feem, and as I was watching, certain scenes (like the gay terrorist scene) stirred old memories buried in my subconscious and I realised I have watched this movie a long, long time ago. About 24/25 years ago. Whew, how time flies! Choppy editing, slapstick cartoonish style and infantile comedy. 4.5/10, and I am this generous because it is headlined by Jackie Chan. |
