Nickshrapnel: So you're confident the movie would earn $300m in a space of a month. I wouldn't be a cog in another man's wheel of progress, so i wish it does too. But from the numbers point of view, it all seems like wishful thinking. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Nickshrapnel: Even at equilibrium point ( Break even point), it's still a box office bomb. So you're confident the movie would earn $300m in a space of a month. Well i wouldn't be a cog in another man's wheel of progress, so i wish it does too. But from the numbers point of view, it all seems like wishful thinking & FYI, studio might have already cut their loss as regards the movie. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Nickshrapnel: break even means that a movie makes enough to cover all of its costs. so, if a movie cost $2 million then it would need a profit of $2 million to break even. so even if birds of prey breaks even. it will make no profit. a movie that doesn't make a profit is not considered a successful movie. a movie that is not successful is a box office bomb. 1 Like |

KoiceReloaded:You are not accounting for Blu-ray DVD sales.... Studios also make profit through DVD sales |

urahara: Exactly. That's why i said that it reaching the $300m benchmark is nothing but wishful thinking. 2 Likes 1 Share |

DandeNumeruno:Yeah. We are not taking of profit now, we are taking of it having enough revenue/income to fully settle it's expenditure/expenses. If it doesn't attain break even point, studio might owe lots of people. |

Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by DandeNumeruno(m): 5:55pm On Feb 12, 2020 |
mekaprime: WB will owe a lot of people for sure because there is no way it will break even at this stage. but come o, for a while now. WB has been on a string of box office bombs. RICHARD JEWELL, DOCTOR SLEEP & THE GOLDFINCH all bombed abysmally. BIRDS OF PREY bombing makes it a quadruple of bombs on a stretch lol. 2 Likes |

DandeNumeruno:With the exception of Dr Sleep, WB stake in the other movies is negligible as they have little investment in the production |

kendrick93: I did... BR and DVD sales, streaming, theater tickets sales, etc are all part of marketing/distribution. I didn't go into details, I merely summarized. 1 Like 1 Share |

urahara: I think they need thrice their production costs to break even. I have forgotten the exact figure but I suspect is it. Be reminded they share 50/50 cinema revenues with the cinemas themselves. There is also the marketing budget. 1 Like |

hulk616:But still somehow contributed to it been a box office success by seeing the movie... Like Drake once said "Jealousy is love and hate at the same time"....you will continue to see every DC movie just to make sure it fails,.....so why not save yourself the hassle... Except you are really a marvel bot, then it's fine. 2 Likes |
