One Shot (2021)

10 minutes into the film, I realized "One Shot" is not only the name of the film, but it's also the film’s camera gimmick. Basically, the whole film was shot in one continuous take, no cuts, just one continuous pan of the camera from one scene to another, a la '1917 (2019)'. The film is essentially twenty minutes of talk followed by seventy minutes of pretty much non-stop action held together by a fancy camera gimmick; it works because it's really mesmerizing, it kept me invested in the action scenes and the basic plot from beginning till end.

Saw the trailer a while back, first thing I thought was all the space agencies that look out for these sort of things can't see or deduce via scientific calculations that something of that size(potential extinction event) is about to impact earth... Remember, a huge asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs(at least that's what science thinks for now), I just think In verse(even though asteroid study isn't there yet), agencies with bigger budgets than those two(Lawrence and DiCaprio's characters) should know whatever it is there is to know already....
Didn't watch the trailer to the end though so maybe I'm missing something..

The movie is poking fun at people who are indifferent to the obvious. Think global warming.

Red notice 9/10.
The movie is everything for me. My favorite scene is the prison part. Ryan reynolds and Johnsons releases this year are amongst the best for me.

Army of theives: 3/10
Home sweet Alone: I stopped after the first 3 mins.

No Time to Die (2021) 9/10

A fitting farewell to Daniel Craig's Bond whose run has explored Bond personally as a character, rather than former incarnations that focused on just his adventures.
Retired from service and trying to settle into some semblance of a normal life with Madeleine, both Bond and Madeleine's pasts intertwine to hunt and seperate them. On request from an old friend, Bond comes out of hiding to face a familiar old enemy one last time only to meet an unfamiliar foe as well, who will threaten everything Bond holds dear.
I honestly think Lea Seydoux was better in this than she was in Spectre and Lashanna Lynch was pretty badass as the new 007.
Rami Malek was absolutely unnerving as the rather unhinged Safin.
The set pieces and action sequences were really cool and entertaining without going particularly over the top. And that final shootout in the climax was really badass.
James Bond will return. As who, we know not yet. But as someone who really enjoyed Craig's run as Bond, these faces below conveyed my emotions at watching his final entry.

You know, much has been said about how those around wouldn't help one like Davido's friends did but they question begging for an answer is, how valuable are these helpee to their helpers.

Many of them won't greet you, won't reach out, won't care, won't add any value directly or indirectly to you but will cry foul when you decline to help them due to one reason or the other.

I firmly believe, before you can request help from someone you must have helped them one way or the other.

You said it. I've been saying it that what many Nigerians suffer from is entitled mentality.

I still believe value is key here. If you're asking for help, you must put yourself in a place to offer value, that is to be able to give something back (not necessarily money or pussy). One just can't feel because Mr A. is my friend and he has money, he should give me money whenever I ask him.

This warp mentality of ours is really dealing a very heavy blow on the society. Some will even put it arrogantly that Mr. A. is successful yet, he hasn't given back to society. Shey na by force? The society that never gave Mr. A anything, he should now give back to the same society.

Bro this entitled mentality is really causing very serious damage.

No Time To Die: 3/4 stars

Craig's run as bond did take itself too seriously, lacks the action that we've come to appreciate from Brosnan's era and sometimes plays out like a day time soap opera in scenes similar to that in George Lazenby's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

However, props up to the producers Barbara Brocolli and Michael G Wilson as they made us come up close and personal with the character for the first time in it's history.

It's the consistency for me!

They started out by redefining the character and stuck to their guns despite this not being liked by many.

In all, I'd say No Time To Die is a fitting tragic end to a tragic Bond.

Are you sure you're not running it backwards? If recall correctly, Brosnan's Bond films are very soap opera-ish, while Craig's are pretty gritty in comparison, and all in all, a better representation of the Ian Fleming idea of Bond.

Are you sure you're not referring to Brosnan's Bond films because personally, they're soap opera-ish, while Craig's are pretty dark in comparison, and all in all, a better representation of the Ian Fleming idea of Bond.

I'm referring to Daniel Craig's bond.

Personally, I never saw anything soap opera-ish about Brosnan's Bond.

Brosnan's Bond was just another Lothario: hit and run: that's it!

But Craig's Bond did truly fall in Love twice and the my Soap Opera statement stems from the fact that this was explored to a greater extent in some scenes.

Bruh, Brosnan's Bond films are more like fantasy than espionage drama.

Craig's Bond films are more grounded and depicted Bond as more of brawn than sauve British spy. The writers bought fully into Ian Fleming mythos of James Bond. Just like in the books, Bond loved Vesper, and even after avenging her death, never really got over her.

Daniel Craig's representation of Bond is what Bond ought to be.

I absolutely agree with you, still I prefer Brosnan's Bond.

You have to understand that's it's about personal preference now.

Whether Craig's Bond embodied the character Ian Fleming had in mind or not is not my business.

Simply put, I'm not interested in Bond's love life.

You also have to understand that it was in Craig's era they switched it up.

From Goldfinger (1964) right up until Die Another Day (2002), it was that same fantasy style, that same formula that was explored.

Don't get me wrong, Brosnan played a good Bond. He made the character relevant in the 90s, but ultimately his tenure was invalidated by the move towards gritty-realism. Compared side by side with Craig, Brosnan comes off as a circus side show. Anywho, I respect your choice.

The thing is that I don't even have an issue on the gritty take of Craig's era, but they should do something with the action.

People leave their mouths agape when I tell them my best Craig's 007 film is Quantum of Solace even with its shit script.

That film was gritty and still had all the action reminiscent of Brosnan's era.

Casino Royale comes in second: yet to see anything that'll beat that sequence on that construction site in the film's first act.

Timothy Dalton's License to Kill kind of falls in this category too.

Ever since then, the producers keep dumbing it down, the action I mean.

In addition to that, they kept toying around with my gun barrel pre-title sequence.

It was non existent in Casino Royale, can't remember where they took it to in Quantum of Solace, then it came before the end credits in Skyfall.

Twas only in Spectre and No Time To Die that they stuck to tradition.

In as much as I understand that the producers had to make some drastic changes to make the character relevant, not all will react well to those changes especially when they've stuck with a particular formula for 40 years. I guess I'm one of them.

Also, Brosnan's Bond keeps getting a bad wrap because of nothing other than Die Another Day (invisible car for one) and then The World is not Enough (Nuclear Physicist abi engineer in semi tank top or whatever). For all the shit being said about Brosnan's era, his first two entries Golden Eye and Tomorrow Never Dies were decent solid flicks.

I'll keep defending Brosnan's Bond because for one I grew up with them and secondly you were at least entertained.

Reviews for the Wheel of Time are out.
Seems the consensus is that it's a fan or genre pleaser but not a general audience thingy (if you're not familiar with the story).
Almost everyone seems to compare it to GOT.
The reviews are mixed.

#Premieres tomorrow.
