According to a report in The Verge, the previously leaked, mysterious Nokia Normandy is an Android handset. Known internally under several different codenames, the device is said to be developed as an equivalent to the low-cost Nokia Asha range he Nokia Normandy allegedly runs heavily modified Android version – much like in the case of the Amazon Kindle Fire range. The OS will allow the handset to run popular Android apps, thus addressing a major shortcoming of the current Nokia Asha lineup. The Nokia Normandy development is described as going at “full steam ahead”. The handset is reportedly planned for a release in 2014. However, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia's devices & services units all but completed, we are yet to find out what the Redmond giant’s plans for the Normandy are. http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_normandy_is_reportedly_a_lowcost_android_phone-news-7346.php 2 Likes |

I dont gerrit peepz...does it mean Nokia has signed up with google for Android? When? How? Where? Hope its not what am thinking oo, remembered when Nokia bought up the whole percentage shares of Symbian Inc. from other giant mobile phone manufacturers and had the exclusive right to it. Alright, if it is true then lets go there! Let the dawn of a new competition begin!! |

This is no longer happening. It was part of Nokia plans to revive the company. When Microsoft got details of this development after initially dropping plans to acquire Nokia, it become an automatic problem as Windows Phone 8 would hit the brickwall. Plans to acquire Nokia was intensified, and the deal has been signed by Nokia shareholders which includes all Nokia patients and the right to use Nokia's name on Microsoft smartphone for some time. The United States Department of Justice has approved the purchase of Nokia by Microsoft. So this device is as good as non-existent! 2 Likes |
