Is something good because god commands it, or does god command it because it is good?

Case 1 (The former):
If something is good because a god commands it, then terrorism as commanded by the quran, and slavery and genocides as commanded
by the bible are good, and should be considered as everyday act.

Case 2(The later):
If god commands something because it is good, then goodness is exclusive of god. Meaning goodness exists separately from god. Then
it is not a god who defines goodness for us, but morality exists separately from god, which is the atheistic take on the matter.

This question has been asked to numerous Christians and Muslims philosophers who have always had no definite answers.
The atheists on the other hand, are just having a good time.

In my understanding good and evil don't really exist.

All is same force being projected in different ways such that the human consciousness decides against one and accepts the other.

It's not God dat determines wat is good for us, it is US that determines it.

in ur village, Kissing outside might be an evil act while in another kissing outside is good.

Black cats could be evil while in another village black cats bring goodluck.

Killing of twins was evil in major pre-colonial African nations but it wasn't in calabar.

The messed up thing is that when humans make laws they tend to claim their God made it.

Indeed.

If the founder of the religion had an allergy to horse meat, eating horse meat would be sin. If he loved women, polygamy would be morally right.

As a christian I believe point number 2 is correct, God declares something as good because it is good. However the bible acknowledges that due to mans limited understanding, it does not belong to man to decide what is good from what is bad. What we might consider as good because of its immediate benefits may prove not to be so good after a while.

Look at technology for example, it has certainly made our lives more comfortable than ever before, raising standard of living and has fueled an exponential growth of the human population from just under two billion at the dawn of the industrial age to more that seven billion humans in a couple of hundred years. To put that in perspective, it took us (humans) thousands of years to get to the two billion mark.
Though many people still can not see it, but the same technology that has been good to us is also proving to be the greatest threat to our continued existence as a specie on earth. It is helping us damage our biosphere, accelerating the depletion of vital resources required for our modern life that if left unchecked will lead to an irreversible collapse.
Due to our shortsightedness, we are unable to see beyond the horizon of our choices, as such we can only place relative value on things and not absolute.
