Three Golden Eaglets could make Eagles World Cup squad after impressing in training Thursday, 12 December 2013 11:45 48 0 THREE members of Nigeria's victorious Golden Eaglets who recently won the U17 World Cup could make the Super Eagles squad for Brazil 2014 after impressing team handlers at the Championship of African Nations (Chan) training camp. Nigeria is one of eight countries that will participate in the Chan tournament in South Africa that starts on January 11 and Golden Eaglets Dele Alampasu, Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi have been invited to camp to compete for shirts. They are part of a 30-man squad that shall be whittled down to 23 for the tournament and so far, they have impressed team coaches with their performances. Super Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi plans to use the Chan tournament to select some players who will join his squad for the World Cup next year and if the trio perform well, they could make it to the plane to Brazil. Iheanacho, who won the Best Player of the Tournament at the U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates has been particularly impressive. Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu who won the best Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the U17 World Cup has also been highly praised by team handlers. Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Amokachi who has been handling training this week, has tipped the trio to make the final selection cut. Coach Amokachi said he was left dazzled by the footballing prowess and determination of the players in camp, including the Golden Eaglets trio of Alampasu, Awoniyi and Iheanacho. He commended the competitive spirit in the camp, noting that the older players were giving the new invitees a good run for their money. "All the players including the young Eaglets have been tremendous at training sessions and I personally will not be surprised if they make the final squad for the Chan tournament. However, we will have to wait for our boss to have a look at them and make a final decision,” Amokachi added. Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu, added that the newly-invited goalkeepers in camp have impressed him with their performance so far. Alampasu and Isah Danladi of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt are new invitees and their form has been very impressive according to the coach. Shorunmu added:"They have been wonderful along with Dan Akpeyi and Chigozie Agbim and they can even challenge for World Cup places. However, it might be too early in the day, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for now." Many Nigerian football commentators believe Iheanacho could be the shock inclusion in Super Eagles squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. Although many Golden Eaglets coach Emmanuel Amuneke has said that he wards are not yet ready for senior football, Keshi is yet to rule them out. Keshi said: “Everything depends on them. If they can prove themselves and show that they can cut it at this level, then we will take it up from there.” Chan is a tournament for players who exclusively ply their trade domestically and Keshi said his sights will be on talent who can force their way into the squad that will represent Nigeria in Brazil next year. I just read it. This is what I'm talking about, we need to go out and look for talents instead of chasing has-beens that give us attitude or going to find mixed kids in Europe to pledge allegiance to Nigeria simply because they bear Nigerian names, there are over 30 million youths in Nigeria who could be just as good as if not better than the likes of Messi and CR7, we should train our future stars instead of waiting for Germany or England to train them for us so we can lure them later and they play for us for lack of opportunity in said countries. Kudos to the U-17 boys, there is no doubt in my mind that at least 2 of them will make the World Cup squad #TeamFRESHLEGS #TEAMHomegrowntalents

Being creative doesnt have to do with opponents or whatever.Its a talent that a player is naturally blessed with.Would playing against 20yr olds/25yr olds swallow his good passing skills,great vision and creatitvity that he is naturally blessed with ??.Hell no !.
I'll rather have iheanacho on d eagles bench than oduamadi.I can bet my money that iheanacho would perform better than oduamadi or mba in the nigerian midfield.

The two eaglets i would love to see in the super eagles soon are iheanacho,and musa mohammed.Those are the two most important eaglets,becos what both possess is really lacking in the super eagles.Awonyi and alampasu aren't really needed.We have capable no.9s that can score goals in emenike,ameobi,dike,uche.
Also we have capable world class goal-keepers in enyeama and ejide.
Musa yahaya isnt really needed now,cos we have a skillful,pacy attacker in moses.
But in the S.E i havent seen any player that posses the superb passing skills and creativity that iheanacho has,not even mikel.He scores goals too.
Iheanacho would be a valuable player,even if its to sit on d bench throughout d world cup or be an 87 minute sub.
Musa mohammed posses what our two right backs(ambrose and kwambe) lack.That is lightening pace,superb work-rate,creativity,strong Marking and tackling,good crossing ability,you name it.He has all these but our two right backs lacks all.
Our 1st choice ambrose is so unconvincing and inconsistent in that position.Our 2nd choice RB(kwambe) is nothing to write home about.
I'll prefer to have musa mohammed on the bench as a back up for ambrose than kwambe.
Mohammed is inexperienced,and so is Kwambe.
