Does Slow And Steady Still Win The Race In Nigeria? by DEGREE2466(m): 10:13am On Dec 13, 2013
Having considered the ups and downs in our nigeria educational system ranging from difficulty in getting admission to spending more years than normal in our higher institutions i am beginning to wonder whether the slogan SLOW AND STEADY WIN THE RACE IS STILL OBTAINABLE IN NIGERIA.

A former classmate of mine told me that one of our former primary school classmates is doing her youth service and i was like how come but on enquiry i discovered that she skipped some classes and entered the university before we could finish our waec.

With the current trend in Nigeria educational system wherby you have to spend like two to three years battling with waec and jamb. And even when admission is granted, strike and some unforeseen contingencies which could make a student spend more than the stipulated years of study in school resulting to the student graduating at a later age.

That in mind our employers are not helping matters as they map out the age limit of their employees without putting into consideration the huddles some students pass through to be a graduate.

Society itself is not left out as any man beyond the age of 35 and is still single due to financial imbalance is regarded as a weakling and a failure not minding what could be the cause of the delay.

Just to mention few areas where age play important role in our society i am coming to a conclusion that the slogan SLOW AND STEADY WIN THE RACE should be reversed to FAST AND STEADY WIN THE RACE.

having this in mind, should parents who jump classes for their children be encouraged as it seems thats the only way we can meet up with the delay of nigeria education systerm? As it seems that the patient dog is now eating the rotten bone.

Note: Massive unemploment not excluded
