ASUU/fg Brouhaha by Nobody: 3:18pm On Dec 13, 2013
11:12:13 was a special day in the history
Nigeria's
TertiaryInstitution and its lecturers, with the
signing of a re-negotiated agreement between
members of ASUU and the Federal Government
of
Nigeria, and the prompt deposit of # 200billion
made by the federal Government as a sign of
commitment to fulfilling its promise to
revitalize
the Tertiary institution system by adequately
Funding and provide improve remuneration
package for workers.
But these questions seek answers;
#1: The President of ASUU promised Nigerians
in
a press conference that the strike would be
called
off within 24hours should FG sign the Re-
negotiated agreement, why plead for one week
to
hold another meeting, is the strike Subversive?
#2: What If another possible eventuality
happens, would its postpone its NEC meeting
again?
#3: If The #200billion revitalization fund is not
judiciously put to use by the Vice
Chancellors, what is the basis for the six month
old
strike?
#4: Would the university student experience
another six month strike if FG Fails in its signed
agreement?
#5: Why call off the strike next week when
Most
university would go for Christmas break and
resume in January?
#6: Why waste a Semester(6 month) of the
future of Nigerian students on a struggle they
are
not in support of?
#7: What is the fate of thousands of
prospective
students hoping to write JAMB next year?
#8: how would student finish two semester
within
6month,what's happens to the rent expiration
of
student?
#9: The students who were killed or arrested
on
account of a crime which the strike put them
to,are they the sacrificial lamb?
#10: Would this strike or the new earned
allowances stop corruption,intimate
harassment,rot in our Tertiary institutions,?
My stand point on this is that Federal
Government
has failed in its promise for a better
educational
system to all Nigerians, and as such has made
our
universities less competitive to other foreign
counterpart, its has resulted to capital flight to
smaller countries as Ghana, South Africa,Togo,
Benin etc owing to the rot in our educational
system which is visible to the world, ranging
from
low funding, corruption, Government
interference,poor maintenance culture,
inexperienced man power, Etc.
If not for the insensibility of Government, these
issues can be resolved amicably without strike
action for the best interest of Nigerian
students.
No country can effectively attain its millennium
goals without massive investments in the
capacity and future of her youth, funding the
Educational system is best way to attracts
foreign
students who would in turn boost the revenue
capacity of our universities and the country at
large, Let these be an eye opener to both
parties
and Nigerian.
God Bless Nigeria.

CONTRADICTORY VIEWS.......WHERE DO YOU BELONG? FOR ASUU, OR AGAINST ASUU.........AS FAR AS I'M CONCERN ASUU DID RIGHT.......ASUU WON.......VICTORY FOR ASUU, VICTORY FOR INTELLECTUALS, VICTORY FOR THE MASSES, VICTORY FOR ACADEMICS, VICTORY FOR UNIONISM IN NIGERIA...ASUU SHOWED TENACITY, STOOD THEIR GROUND AND WON BECAUSE THEY KNEW THEY WERE ON A JUST CAUSE....OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM WOULD IMPROVE SOON.
POINT OF INFORMATION: THE BATTLE WON BY ASUU ISN'T FOR ASUU ALONE. POLYTECHNICS, COLLEGES OF EDUCATION, AND ALL OTHER INSTITUTION WOULD BENEFIT BECAUSE BUDGETARY ALLOCATION FOR EDUCATION HAS BEEN INCREASED.
