What a great letter. She brought ŦĦЄ attention of the public to so many issues. This is not political, rather the painful experience she αп̥̥đ ĦƐŔ siblings h̶̲̥̅̊åd while growing up, despite their father bin d head of state. The message is clear, 1st to obj "CHECK URSELF BEFORE U CRITICISE SUM1 ELSE". while d 2nd message is ƒσг Nigerians "we shuld not always conclude dat all politicians ar d same"... hmmmm...reading thru iyabo's letter to her dad, this is d season of open letters... the truth of d matter is that ●we all know obj is stubborn and self- centred ●most of the issues raised are family problems and not meant for public consumption ●iyabo came home in 2003 simply to have her share in the butchery of national cake ●blaming her dad for manipulating her to contest in 2011 just shows she's not an adult as we think..,she's still a daddy's girl ●claiming obj don't know number of his children is non of our business, if obj like make he get 100 children, I don't care ●she alleged obj treated Stella and her family well during inauguration but my question is that where were iyabo when obj was incarcerated? as far as we know, Stella was d only person left wit obj then ●so iyabo is telling us she built only one house, okay she bought others... ●without obj, iyabo has no political career as shown when obj left office on 2011. iyabo couldn't even win her ward. this is a season where people are looking for relevance, like obj in his letter to d president, iyabo just want us to know she's still alive but unlike president Jonathan, obasanjo is a private citizen so this letter to me has no value... iyabo, if you're having problem with your father, you know d road to otta, afterall that's where u used to share our money, go there and spare us this nonsensical nonsense. you (iyabo) are one of obasanjo's mistake in Nigeria because there's absolutely nothing that you contribute to ogun state as a commissioner or Nigeria as a senator 1 Like |

How can this letter be the end of OBJ politically when OBJ has already died politically a long time ago? The only reason OBJ wrote that poo to Jonathan is because OBJ is trying to gain a new political relevance. He is finished. I like the way Jonathan has ignored his stup1dity so far 2 Likes |

I took my time to read this letter when you decide to neglect people that matters to you because of your political ambitions, that same people will come back to hunt you. We should always treat loved ones right so they will be there for us when things start falling apart. Goodluck doesn't need to reply Obasanjo again because he has already gotten a bomb shell from his daughter. |

bettermike: Great points from Shymexx. Acidosis and Gboss4sure have disapointed on this issue sofar. Honestly, i used to think they were smarter. *Back to your post* Well, despite the Ph.d, i wont be suprised if indeed iyabo wrote it. Dumbness knows no degree or calibre. Why am i sceptical about her, you'll ask? Well, this is the same iyabo that (on camera), in the full view of everyone at a church service years aback; intentionally relocated to sit right behind the then Gov. Gbenga Daniels, just in her bid to attack him from behind (in a church servicewith video cameras o!). Which right thinking politician or phd holder does that? She's just dumb. Simple! Well, if she actually wrote it, then she just committed suicide. One thing I know is tha,t you can never play your parents, or try to outsmart them, regardless of your age or how knowledgeable you think you're. You'll always be that little kid to them and they'll always be a step ahead of you no matter what game(s) you play. I honestly don't care about the letter and their story, since no family is perfect. However, the timing is just not right. It's a game and I expect her dad to come back with a bang. Anyway, her dad is just a piece of the puzzle - the rest won't be deterred by this nonsense. I believe they would move to the next phase soon to counter this - and keep their feet on the gas. The next few weeks should be interesting. PS: those two handles you cited are arguably two of the dumbest posters on this forum. Don't put my handle in the same sentence with those clowns. You need to follow "Pukkah" and "eGuerrilla" if you need consistent intellectually sound posts to educate your mind. 1 Like |

anonimi: And so? Why can't she change it if she now wants to disown the very reason why she bears the name? My point is that these women enjoy the benefits of those names so much that they held on to it despite disassociating themselves from the people that gave them the names because of what they "endured". That to me, is hypocrisy of the highest order! If their father or husbands were poor nobodies will they still want to bear the name? Nansense! If you wanna divorce your husband or disown your father then drop their juicy names dammit! You cannot eat your cake and still have it! Simple! 3 Likes |

Re: Iyabo Obasanjo's Letter To Her Father by steveregs1: 9:29am On Dec 18, 2013 |
There are many possible reactions to this letter. I will state mine, and why the bulk of reactions given here are not helping. The letter is a response to Fmr. President Obasanjo's open letter to the President. This letter in it's entirety may be true (I actually think it is true). This letter goes a long way to show the kind of family life Fmr. President Obasanjo had. I also, sorry to add, subscribe to her opinion that Nigerians are guilty of desiring change, but not willing to do what is required to achieve it; and, not letting -- actually crucifying people who work hard with skills they possess to change Nigeria on altars of maintaining status quo and keeping things the way they are, believing that one day they will be in government and have access to steal funds that they will never be called on to account for. Having said this, I will come to the crux of the matter on ground, which happens to be the reason I took my time to write this: this letter does not, in any way, discredit the issues (and that's putting it mildly, for 'problem' is a better word in this case) Fmr. President Obasanjo raised in his own letter. I took my time to study both letters and I have been particularly careful to note that Fmr. President Obasanjo's letter contains issues that, as he rightly put it, will lead Nigeria right back to the Abacha era and what characterized it. Senator Iyabo's letter, however, appears to only say that President Obasanjo has no moral grounds based on his family matters on ground to compose such a letter. I will not take sides with anyone. I will only say that everybody has skeletons in his closet. If risking the exposure of your skeletons will bring about a greater good by telling the outright truth, not behind the person in question but to the person's face, then Fmr. President Obasanjo should be credited for his brave and daring efforts at writing this letter. Someone quoted J.K. Rowling in the comments. Please note that the same celebrity author also said, "it is honourable to stand up to your enemies, but of even greater honour it is to stand up to your friends." Senator Iyabo, being a doctor trained in the US should be knowledgeable enough to acknowledge that things are not right -- or even close -- in this country. I've learned to put family differences and assertions aside when dealing with political matters because we all are imperfect people. If someone is not great at keeping his/er family together or treating them as s/he ought but can provide good governance, "for the greater good" s/he should be allowed to rule. For instance, the late Nelson Mandela was a divorcee but is celebrated today as one of the greatest men the world has ever seen. Fmr. President Bill Clinton was an adulterer having been in an affair with an intern in the White House, but today he is acknowledged as a great President and leader of the United States in his time. No one is perfect, let us give people their chances to work for the greater good. This is key. This dispensation is said to be democratic. If this is so, let us, for our own good, decide if we are going to continue in this same path, or fight for the change we so desire. If egos will be sacrificed then so be it. We cannot just sit and fold our hands and watch the treasury be looted, or investors leave the country for lack of basic infrastructure to ease operations, or security policies continually being used when they obviously are not working anymore and persons in charge are apparently too feeble and indecisive to change them. Being loyal does not mean when my integrity is called into question, or my relationship with God Almighty is about to be affected negatively by my loyalty, that I will continue to follow blindly, searing my conscience for whatever financial or sentimental gains I may have in the future. One governor starts the revolution against disservice and injustice against the people, financial looting, untamed corruption, indecisiveness and slow actions, and we all predict doom for him just because, as they say, "you cannot fight the Federal Government and get away with it." But, the very same people are hailing Nelson Mandela, William Wallace, Ken Saro-Wiwa, just to mention a few, for their acts of bravery in bringing the much-desired change thy fought for and paid for in no small measures, some even going as far as dying for their Country. Let us know, that in all, and after this, comes the judgment. One day we will all stand before the righteous Judge and give account for our statements, actions and inactions (what we did and failed to do), thoughts, and how well we spent our time here on earth. God bless Nigeria. 4 Likes |

@steveregs: OBJ's letter contains nothing but bitter stuff from a man trying to blackmail his way back to power. 1. No funds are missing. Even the audited reports have come out to prove no funds were missing 2. OBJ cannot control GEJ and he is not happy about that. He is a power freak but has met his match in a man that has simply ignored him 3. Please tell me, between OBJ and GEJ who is likely to be training a killer squad? That one got me cracking. OBJ rana a killer government. From Bola Ige to Marshal Harry. We know what happened in his 8 years 4. What issue is asking GEJ not to contest when he is eligible? Does he own Nigeria? Please if you see OBJ, help me tell him his judement has just began. He has not seen anything yet! 1 Like |
