Crowd boos at mention of
Abia gov’s name
The large crowd that attended
the first Aba Half Marathon at
the Enyimba Stadium yesterday
booed at the mentioned of the
name of the state Governor, Theodore Orji, at the event. The
incident occurred during
ceremonies marking the end of
the Aba Half Marathon event at
the Enyimba Stadium which
was attended by a large crowd some of who came from
outside the state.
Although the governor was not
at the event, organized by
SATUURN Communications,
owners of the Magic FM Radio, Aba, but each time his name
was mentioned over the public
address system by the
organizers, the crowd that
thronged the stadium, would
boo and jeer at the name and shouted, “No, we don’t want
him, no, we don’t want him
here.”
In a sharp contrast however,
when the names of politicians
like Senator Nkechi Nwaogu and Eziuche Ubani, were mentioned,
there were thunderous ovation
and cheering all the way.
The first Aba Half Marathon
was won by Raymond Simon from Kaduna State who carted
home the star prize of
N250,000.
