Nigeria is going bankrupt because of Corruption and Impunity. Plus governance cost is just TOO HIGH for us to have money for development. Some suggestions for the NC:
- Scrap the Senate [/b]we need only One Legislative House (Senegal got rid of its Senate in 2012 as it was too costly)
- [b]Have 6 Zones plus FCT, Instead of the 36 states that we have now - they are not viable and administrative costs for State Assemblies etc are too high. So 6 Zonal Governors, 6 Zonal Assemblies and 774 LGAs. Since Nigerians are agitating for self-determination, perhaps each Zone can have its own Zonal Constitution. So a Confederacy or similar, just like Switzerland with its 3 areas of French, Italian and German but still one country.
- Selected members of Zonal Assembly go to Abuja to convene NASS (minus a Senate) as and WHEN NEEDED. So we don't have to pay for yet another set of Reps (to make up a House of Reps as we have now).
- Zonal Governor to be non-executive? But Zonal Assembly members and LGA Chair to be executive. Low salary (eg 500,000 N p/m) to deter looters but attract those with no interest in "big man" lifestyle. All elected posts to be 2 X 4 years or 1 X 6 years so NO PENSION for public office holders!
- Economic Fugitive Unit to tackle Official Corruption by special Unit in EFCC that pursues looters no matter which country they hide. Jews did this re: German Nazi criminals and hunted them down even if it took years. Seize properties of those who are dead.
- To have a NC on a regular basis like Rwanda does. Perhaps every 5 or 10 years?

Two party, bicameral , parliamentary system ,independent candidacy , part time lawmakers


Federation with heavier responsibility to states on exclusive list, state police

Scrapping EFCC, FrSc etc.. parastatals should return to traditional organisations and ministries

Resource control and return of 5 year development plans for at all levels of government.
