Ma/sir, this only happens when some of those who met the cut-off point rejects the admission. What else do you expect the management to do if they must fully utilize their quota? Produce another set of those with 80 and above from space? Of course no! That is when the 'doctrine of nearness' comes in. For those candidates planning on getting C.O.C, ur score value shld determine wat courses u'l be changing to. Those dat scored within 50-60, it's advisable u change to courses very very less competitive where u stand chances of gaining admission. D essence is to avoid competing with candidates who scored way higher than u did, particularly those within d score range of 61-75, dat wld be falling back on vacant courses!

MBBS(score range 70-77)------ ur fall back courses are Human Nutrition and Biological sciences. Dat applies to B.DS applicants within 68-72.

LLb(score range 68-71)---- ur fall back is philosophy.

B.pharm(score range 60-66)---- ur fall back is chemistry science/Edu

Political sci and Economics(with good score)----- ur fall back is geography

The rest shld 'jejely' opt for vacant courses in Faculty of Agriculture, Education, and sciences

Like I said earlier, d essence is to avoid changing to courses... many with greater scores are changing to!

There could be WURUWURU in the second list for courses that would not be made available for COC (that's fact especially in MBBS & LAW---take my words for it).

Note: not in courses that are available for COC but courses that would not be made available---you'll just notice that folks below the cut-off will be admitted based on an unknown reason....

Merit list is for merit candidates....

you made mention of shortlisting, so if they should shortlist, lot of peeps that paid and registered for the p-utme won't even be given the opportunity to prove themselves..
I think your suggestion is the best way of shattering people's hope and not UI's..

let just hope for the best, I scored 78% too, I have finish my first degree already. so i have started preparing to take anoda jamb. God favour will fall on my side someday. I advice u freshers to take the coc or stand ur ground and if nothing prepare towards next year. best of luck
