Strong indications have emerged that President Goodluck Jonathan has become increasingly worried, despite all the pretence, over threats by more members of the National Assembly to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“Yes, I can confirm that the Senate President, Senator David Mark, has been recruited by President Goodluck Jonathan to salvage the PDP obviously because of his pedigree. Mr. President has been meeting with the Senate President in the Villa in the past few days to strategise and curtail the moves and threat by more members of the Senate to dump the PDP. 
“The Senate President has been dutifully carrying out the assignment to meet with the members of the National Assembly to prevent their movement into APC in January although without success because some members insisted that it is too late for them to rescind their decision to dump the PDP for APC."
The embattled President Jonathan is said to be very jittery over reports that more members of the PDP in the National Assembly have decided to defect to APC on the resumption of plenary in the New Year.

It was gathered that Jonathan sought the support of the Senate President, Senator David Mark, to go after the lawmakers to have a re-think and prevent the APC from taking over National Assembly completely.

Jonathan has been meeting Mark more frequently at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, since December 25, 2013.

Prominent among lawmakers expected to join the APC in January, is the Speaker of the House of Reps, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and about 30 more members of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

About 21 senators elected on the platform of PDP are also on their way out of PDP to APC this January.

Already, former Governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki has formally renounced his membership of PDP and embraced APC in a statement in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, on Tuesday.

Another Senator from Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abbe, has confirmed that he is ready to defect to APC in the New Year.

It was gathered that President Jonathan secretly contacted Mr Mark to help out in view of his acknowledged popularity and acceptability in the National Assembly.

David Mark has been trying but ajority of the Senators told him that they are already in APC but just waiting for resumption to formally dump the PDP and decamp to the APC.

impeachment of GEJ and Sambo is imminent...and David Mark will be the Major Beneficiary as he will become the Acting President...so if GEJ is expecting David Mark to help him.....i say.....#I dey LAFF oooo....David Mark na Soldier ooo..na OBJ pikin...infact, David Mark is fighting his state governor who has taken over the PDP structure in Benue State...so, David Mark is therefore one of the aggrieved PDP members..he is just being cool about it all...GEJ is in a one chance...and I am so sorry for him.

i guess it wasn't so 'secret' after all since it didn't take long to make the papers. Anyway, if the President's facade reflects anything other than worry or concern over what's going on at the PDP it would imply he doesn't care if the party survives or not. Worry is good, Worry means he would take actions to prevent the collapse of the PDP.

Btw, if God is pleased with him, there's nothing anybody can do against him that will prosper but if the reverse is the case, hmmm......the rate at which the masses supported him in 2011, same rate they will dump him for a more God anointed candidate in 2015!
