A 61-year-old man, Mr. Samuel Adekoya of Agbamu community at Sanyo area, Ibadan, decided to end it all as 2013 was winding up when he committed suicide by jumping inside a deep well. A police source informed Crime Reports that a fire service official, one Ajibade Olumide, reported at Sanyo Division that the fire service received information at about 5.30p.m. on the fateful day Mr Adekoya carried out the criminal act, which led to their moving to the area to retrieve the remains of the deceased from the well.

Detectives were reportedly sent to the scene of the incident to take photograph, after which the body was moved to the mortuary of State Hospital, Yemetu for autopsy.

The wife of the deceased, Mrs Olusola Adekoya, had told the police that she was in the church when the incident occurred. She further stated that her son, one Sina, residing in Akure, Ondo State, and her daughter, Remilekun, residing in Lagos State, called to inform her that the deceased had earlier told them that he should be buried beside his shop.

Mrs Adekoya said that she had to leave the church for home immediately her children gave her the information, but, unfortunately, her husband had already jumped inside the well before her arrival.

The woman was said to have raised the alarm which attracted the neighbours. One of them reportedly contacted the fire service for the evacuation of the body from the well.
