SHOCKING!!!!! FIFA Belittles Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2013 Achievements by thegoodjoehunt(m): 10:06pm On Jan 06, 2014
[b]The Ballon D’Or ceremony is just two months away and as FIFA has published the profiles of the 23 nominees the controversy has arisen again.
Let’s focus on the profile of the two favourites nominees to win the award for best player of 2013: Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi.

Below are the two profiles as seen on the FIFA’s official website

Lionel Messi

Since winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive FIFA Ballon d’Or the Barcelona ace has showed no sign whatsoever of letting up, topping the La Liga’s scoring charts as his side made off with the 2012/13 league title. Messi has been just as prolific on the international front, finishing the South American qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ as the second-highest marksman. With a third world finals to look forward to next year, the 26-year-old attacking wizard is bearing downing fast on another record, as he seeks to become the highest goal scorer in the history of the UEFA Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo

2013 proved to be another goal-drenched year for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star helped himself to 34 of them in the 2012/13 Liga season, a haul beaten only by Lionel Messi’s 45, and scored a hatful more in Europe and for his national team. Always on top form for Real Madrid and Portugal, the flying forward, who won the FIFA World Player award in 2008, is only gaining in stature with Los Merengues, and it came as no surprise when he extended his contract with the club to 2018 and said he was considering staying put for the rest of his career.

So what’s wrong with these profiles? Where is the controversy?

First of all when reading Messi’s profile you get the sense that FIFA clearly states the argentine is their favourite. They include details that are not relevant for the award and that are not taken into consideration when voting for the winner. The 45 goals Messi scored in La Liga include 26 goals scored from August to December 2012. The other 19 goals were scored in 2013 and those are the ones that should be taken into consideration for the 2013 Ballon D’Or- an award given to the best player of the year, not the regular season.   Also they state that Messi is on the road to becoming the highest goal scorer in the history of UEFA Champions League and even though it is amazing it’s also irrelevant for the award. Because he has scored all those goals throughout his career not in 2013. And I should add the Cristiano Ronaldo was the top scorer of UEFA Champions League 2012-2013 season and is the top scorer of the 2013-2014 season with 8 goals so far. He has scored 14 Champions League goals in 2013 but FIFA missed to include all this details in the Portuguese’s profile.  And as for this season performance (which only includes August to November 2013) Messi has scored 14 goals (8 in La Liga and 6 in UEFA Champions League) and given 4 assists. But Cristiano has scored 24 goals (16 in La Liga and 8 in UEFA Champions League) and given 5 assists.

My point here is that if we include only what the players have done during the 2013 year and not the regular season, Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance has been better and he clearly deserves to win the Ballon D’Or.

So why is FIFA trying to belittle Cristiano’s achievements? A couple of weeks ago, Sepp Blatter mocked Ronaldo’s images and disrespected the Portuguese. Now FIFA publishes this profiles with blatantly malicious intentions. In the profiles FIFA makes sure only to display positive data for each player, eliminating anything that might harm the applicants. But in the case of Real Madrid’s striker the only positive detail that is given are the 34 goals he scored in 12-13 season and they are used to further eulogize the Argentine. And there is no mention of what the Portuguese has done during the 2013 year even though FIFA knows that the goals in 2012 are not binding for this award.

FIFA clearly knows who has better numbers for the prize this year. But is seems they obviously want either Messi to win or Cristiano not to win. In past ceremonies when Messi had been better than the other nominees the individual numbers where far more important and when FC Barcelona had better numbers but Messi didn’t the collective titles prevailed. Apparently they are only using data that is benefiting for Messi. Why is it that they do not mention how Cristiano is the top scorer in this league start or how he is the top scorer in UEFA Champions League this year? Or why is that we do not hear about Frank Ribery who has won more titles this year? I suppose we will never know what criteria the voters use for choosing the winner of the Ballon D’Or.

It will be a crime if the World player of the year title is given to Messi. There is no way it is Messi. CR7 for the title.

No need, Sepp Blatter and his Fifa guys have made their choice.

this is pure politics and blind sentiment!...
Just like what Ibrahimovic once said.... "I don't need ballon d'or to know that i'm the best"....
Same goes to CR7, He's been so fantastic and unbelievably wonderful both this season and last season than any other known player in europe!...He really doesn't even need that sh*t to know that he's the best! *FACT*

this shud shame you...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2534573/John-Obi-Mikel-How-Chelsea-man-transformed-seven-years-crucial-component.html
You notice when Mikel does make a mistake or misplace a pass, because it's so rare for him to do so.

Mikel is the best screen in front of the defence that Chelsea have - and is one of the best in the world at this role.

It does lead people to wonder why he hasn't contributed more goals and assists, but given his role in the side it's safety first for Mikel.

Too accurate. I have never read an article of someone who really understands Mikel as this. Nice post success001.
Re: SHOCKING!!!!! FIFA Belittles Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2013 Achievements by thegoodjoehunt(m): 2:19am On Jan 07, 2014
Mikel is also a big game player. His finest performance to date for the club came in the Champions League final, against Bayern Munich, the greatest night in Chelsea's history.

He was arguably man of the match on that day, although Didier Drogba's brilliant equaliser and cup-winning penalty kick overshadowed him on that day.

That's often the story for Mikel. A quiet, under-appreciated but crucial part of a trophy-winning side.

Alot of ignorance it is painful to read.

CR7 had been without a doubt the best player for the ember months. . EMBER months. He was not the best player over the whole year. Messi was. Messi was the best player from January to the end of August. Even into September. The only times he didn't score he didn't play. 2013 was an injury blithe year for messi but he garnered 46 league goals to CR7s 34 or so. Remember messi didn't play the last 4 games of the season. Also he scored 8 champions league goals and although CR7 did better scoring 14 or so he didn't get to a better stage than messi so that effectively rules it out.

Ronaldo didn't out score messi from last season into this. He didn't win a single trophy over him. He didn't out assist him. He didn't out perform him. CR7 needed the playoffs to qualify his team. He scored 4 extra goals bringing his total to 9 in 10 games messi had 6 in 7. Messi qualified his team as group winner.

Bring it to this season. Before Ronaldo started scoring penalties messi had 7 goals ahead of him. Ronaldo didn't exist in August. He has had a wonderful run in september to december in which even Costa and suarez can piss on him and I am having bigots say messi has done nothing. They should just give it to Ribery and save us the brouhaha because without a doubt messi is the WPOTY2013.

You are the one advertising your ignorance here. The article has already described that the World player of the year has always been about the calendar year. You jumped in with Messi scoring 46 goals and CR7 scoring 34. Please, the article states that some of the goals are from 2012 and this is not 2012 World Player Of The Year.

In 2013 CR7 has scored 62 goals for club and country in his “goal-drenched” year, currently 17 goals more than any other player (Lionel Messi has scored 45).

You are as ignorant as the schizophrenic bigot that penned the write up. The world footballer of the year is taken into cognizance based on performances spanning from the previous season to the next season. Messi was already the best player from 2012-2013. He didn't need the August - December run to prove anything. Ronaldo loyalists tried to raise his la liga title but were put down by messis kings cup trophy. Mourinho even tried to belittle the kings cup ( a trophy he had previously praised himself for winning).

Here is the real snag, Ronaldo won nothing. He couldn't qualify his team as leaders, Madrid aren't topping the league, they didn't beat A Madrid at the kings cup final. Why am I even spelling this out?

All the south American coaches and captains will vote for messi. Most of the European nations too will. The Americas in its entirety will still pitch tent with him. Africa is his footstool. Only Portugal will vote Ronaldo, France RIbery. I will piss on this thread come 14th. Losers.

You guys get funny by the minute. Sneijder won trophies including his team making the World Cup finals and being one of the highest goal scorers at the World Cup and knocking out Messi's Barca at the Champions league.

Yet Sneijder's trophy didn't count.

Now CR7 has out performed Messi in a calendar year, now you guys feel he should win it because of goals scored in 2012.

If it is about national team, you can't compare the stars playing for Portugal to that of Argentina. Apart from CR7, which stars in Portugal can you compare to Aguero, Lavessi, Tevez, Rodrigo Palacio, Zabaletta, etc. CR7 on his own took his team to the World Cup, scoring 4 to get them there. Please be factual, in 2013 calendar year, CR7 was better.

If it is about trophies, why not Ribery. Please Fifa is more corrupt than madam Stella Oduah.

It is easy calling CR7 and Bribery losers but the truth is that Fifa cheated to give Messi the WPOTY in 2011 and they are ready to do it in 2014. Their lies is now clear for the World to see that the WPOTY criteria is now confusing.

You don't get it do you?

It is not about FIFA. They don't give it to whom they please. If they did, Schneider should have won it no contest. But people vote. Team coaches and captains of national teams do. Blame them for voting messi. Blame Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil. . .blame Cameroon. Blame Macedonia. Blame Spain. Just think of all the countries that will (rightly) vote for messi. If Ronaldo continues with this run of form into 2014 ending. He will surely win it again. But not this time.

FIFA have played their last card. They have extended the voting period. They have made provision for changing of votes. They have given Ronaldo a chance. If. . . When he doesn't win, he should not blame FIFA. Period.

You don't get it. Fifa can deceive people with Coaches and captains vote but why is it in the profile of the players for last year has goals of 2012 added. It has nothing to do with 2013.

Of is not coaches and captains that did that. That is FIFA influencing the voting to favor Messi. To rephrase it, that is cheating. Later the cheated party is tagged a loser.
