Hello guys, I am new here been a guest for a while and I have been most impressed by the threads. I am considering buying a Honda Accord 2008 V6 and just want opinions on the pros and the cons, particularly a good mechanic in Lagos who is good with V6 engines and 'trustworthy' (if that is not asking too much sha o)....Thanks

Wanting to own 2008 Honda Accord V6 is not a bad idea. Your personal maintenance culture will determine how you enjoy it for as long as you want to.

If u have a good maintenance culture, go ahead and buy it. I have been driving 2003 V6 accord close to 3years now and no issues. Just routine maintenance. Performance is superb, and the good thing for u is dat 2008 accord engine is not VTEC but VCM(don't have time to explain.) technology.

I hope u don't have "e dey drink fuel" mentality.

Na I don't have the 'e dey drink fuel' syndrome. My challenge however is a good mechanic. Most out there don't seem to know the way around a V6 engine....wouldn't mind if you know a good one.

"In September 2009, a class action was filed
alleging that "the braking system on 2008, 2009,
and certain 2010 Honda Accord vehicles as well
as 2009 and certain 2010 Acura TSX vehicles ...
suffers from a defect that causes excessive force
to be applied to the vehicles' rear wheels. One
consequence of this defect is that the vehicles'
rear brake pads wear out and require
replacement about every 15,000 to 20,000 miles, far more frequently than in a properly functioning braking system." On April 6, 2010, a
preliminary settlement to the class action was
announced where Honda would reimburse owners for a portion of their prior brake repair expenses, and Honda would also pay up to $150 for owners to have redesigned brake pads installed. Final court approval of the settlement was granted on July 29, 2010."

That's the major issue with most Honda Accord '08 models.

I know, but I was typing in a haste. I wanted to tell him that with VCM technology it has a better fuel management than the normal i-vtec without VCM. I also know about the brake issue in some Honda, but I hope that will not deter him from buying honda.

I am a Honda fan.

I am based in Port harcourt, I have two very good mechanics. But I do a scan before going to see any of them.
