Pamcrest: Why does GEJ want SLS to resign over a leaked letter? How many has he asked to resign over corruption (or petty stealing as he calls it)?
This president has no balls....can't he just fire d guy he hired? But then does he have cogent reasons to do so, or just because of his flimsy untenable display of intolerance to criticism.
My humble submission

Thats what caused the heated exchange! He has not done anything that would call for a firing, and Sanusi said even if his action is terminable, Jonathan has no power to do so, the power belongs in congress.

Sanusi Lamido is being forced to resign because he exposed the massive corruption involving the NNPC and the ministries of finance and petroleum while Stella Oduah, with all the evidence of being corrupt, is still a member of the FEC. The President is a woman wrapper.

Jman06: You are so pathetic! So you think Sanusi did the nation any good by making the false claim that a wooping $48.9b was not remitted into d federation account by d NNPC? Do you know what that means? It means that Nigeria's apex bank governor is IGNORANT of the modes of remitting money into the federation account by government agencies, and that is the height of INCOMPETENCE. In a saner clime, Sanusi would have since resigned without being told to.

Sanusi is more competent than the clueless GEJ.. When someone who has been at the Apex bank for this long raises an alarm, it means there is fire on the mountain. Rather to attack the messenger, why not attack the message? e-Rats of your kind are all over the place banking and wallowing in mediocrity because your master is nothing more than that! GEJ should apologize to Nigerians and keep his promises, then forgiveness may come!

Just imagine if this news item had been reported by Punch or Sahara Reporters, the PPP team would have been attacking the source rather than address the issues.

Now, they're are attacking Sanusi.

Who are the people that DID not make the remittances?

What has been done to them?

Why should Sanusi be forced out simply because he blew the whistle?

Pukkah:

Two things:

Following NNPC’s repeated denials, a joint press conference was convened by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and Sanusi, during which it was revealed that a reconciliation process was ongoing, and had so far established that it was not $49.8 billion that had not been repatriated to the Federation Account but $10.8 billion.During the press conference, however, Sanusi attempted to distance himself from the statements made by Okonjo-Iweala and Alison-Madueke, stating that it was $12 billion that had not been remitted by NNPC.But the finance minister immediately interjected, insisting that it was $10.8 billion that had not been remitted to the Federation Account and was still in dispute. But it is not clear what would now happen to the CBN governor who has already indicated that he will leave office in March on a three-month terminal leave ahead of the expiration of his tenure in June.He had earlier written to the president last year that he would not be seeking a second term.

Please read carefully. Thanks!

There is a question Nigerians have failed to ask, Sanusi Lamido claimed over 48 billion naira was not remitted into the nations account; those in the ministries of finance and petroleum as well as NNPC ran round and were able to get some of the money. Nobody is asking where this money was before it was gathered to "refute" the claim of Sanusi.

No bro, till June! He is only going to be on leave from March to June.

In other words, he is still on payroll and benefits untill June even though he is no longer on duty beginning March.

kokoA: Lol.. GEJ is wasting his time trying to force Sanusi out. That man is the last public servant anyone can intimidate, he tells you point blank what he wants to tell you without giving a damm. My advice to the presidency is that they allow the fearless mallam finish his tenure peacefully else, he won't think twice exposing lots of other illegalities going on within the system. Sanusi na one man army o. Be warned!

I agree with you.

The government should go to the senate to remove the cbn governor.

SLS should just pack his luggage and leave.

How can a whole CBN president not do his home work properly?
Is it not gross incompetence that a man incharge of the entire country funds is unaware of what should accrue into the company accounts?
Was there any effort to reconcile with NNPC or petroleum minister on the gap before leaking a letter?
Is he unaware of the impact of such wrong info to our economy considering that foreign investors has lost confidence on how much ignorance exists at the apex bank?
If SLS had any shame left, he would have resigned the next day. To whom much responsibility is give, much competence is expected.
SLS has failed all-rounder.

Where was the $10.8 billion before Sanusi's letter?

What has been done to those who didn't remit the $10.8 billion?

Do you agree that $10.8 billion is a whole lot of money?

Now, read carefully and answer carefully.

No long story. Just answers.

The problem was not about performing his duties, rather it was about the leak.

it was a coordinated plot and the focal point that was needed to initiate the impeachment of the President, hence the mass defections from the PDP and the open letter. Unfortunately for the schemers, the figures were wrong and the plot collapsed.

You may be ready while the majority are not yet ready, at least for now?

Some were born poor and helpless and have grown to agitate against the inequalities in the system.

Some are privilege by virtue of the family of their birth and want to keep it that way.

Some lost in the contest of supremacy and want their privileges restored

Some want justice, others want equity, some still want both while sizeable minority want the status quo ante be restored.

Abagworo:

Nigerians are ready now but the issue is that Jonathan is feeling bad that it is during his time that the masses have increased awareness and interest. Contrary to what you and some others believe, it is neither APC nor Jonathan's fault but technology. The level of political and current affairs awareness in Nigeria has skyrocketed as a result of social media and Jonathan is paying the price of that just like those Policemen caught on camera collecting bribe.

A CBN guv who doesnt know how reveneu accrues to his office is not worth his onions and should be thrown away with the quota system that rocketed him to such exalted position. Knowing too much arabic than you need does not a good CBN governor make.. Thats the bottomline folks..

SLS Wrote his letter months before OBJ wrote his, what stop GEJ from responding to the letter earlier on, only to quickly set a committee after the letter went public? This goes to show that if the letter had not gone public nothing would have been done.

mikeansy: And by the way, while the CBN Governor has a term limit not to be altered by the President, they do not have immunity from prosecution.

If the Presidency has evidence of corruption against Sanusi, they should send EFCC after him now! Let him answer the allegations against him, at that point am sure he will have to make a decision to be either sent to jail while in office or resign!

GEJ could send EFCC after Sanusi, but unfortunately, he has sterved them with the fund to carry out investigation and prosecution.

If GEJ should send EFCC after Sanusi,Special Anti Robbery Squad,SARS, should be sent after STEALER Odua!

Mr man, nobody failed to make any remittance. Sanusi was simply ignorant of how money was supposed to be remitted into the federation account by the NNPC.

It is clearly evident that GEJ is punching above his weight. Remember this is a guy who went to an outgoing USA ambassador to Nigeria and confessed to her that he did not have the Admin experience for the job. That undoubtedly shows humility on his part BUT the guy simply does not have enough brain cells to be Nigeria's President. It will be a calamity for Nigeria if we have another 4 years of Gross Incompetence from GEJ and I would rather have another Ijaw man or woman replacing Jonathan and staying for another 8 years or more AS LONG AS that replacement has solid O'levels as against GEJ's evidently fraudulent PHD.

There is no way a PHD under the sun will be as cerebrally deficient as Goodluck evidently is.

Sanusi is too obstinate and sure-footed to be pushed out by Jonathan.

Sanusi has his failings but Jonathan is not handling this well at all. You must be very careful when you want to deal with a mosquito that's on your 'wetin call'.

The unremitted $10.8 billion takes the wind out of Jonathan's sail and also exposes the likes of Diezani Madueke, Okonjo-Iweala, Jonathan himself and the NNPC GMD.

For now, there's no way Jonathan can deal with Sanusi without undoing himself. Sanusi knows this and is using it to his advantage especially with the autonomy of the CBN which makes it impossible for Jonathan to single-handedly remove him.
