If you are a man of conviction you wouldn't even seek for people's opinion you will just go ahead and do what you stand for.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself" Daniel 1:8

The fact that you accepted the job shows that you wanted to work there but want a support from people to back up your embattled conscience. The battle is between you and God. Have you prayed to him (God). I believe God has a way of communicating with you His Mind.
Once there is a will there be a way.

Personally, I don't support Christian taking alcohol on the basis that you can drink and not be drunk. The question I ask is How much alchohol could make a person drunk - 1 bottle, 2 bottle, 3 bottle, 10bottle. You see there is no standard. A pastor that preaches drink and not be drunk will end up having drunkards in his congregation! There is no way you will continue taking alchohol that you will not be drunk for once.

After my graduation I made up my mind not to work in a tobacco or breweries company from the onset nor buy shares of such company. I have come across various adverts from british Tobacco and nigerian breweries of which I am qualified (I made a 2.1 in Elect/Elect) I just by-pass the page and kept on searching for other jobs opportunities. Today I have a good job with a good pay! I mean Six Digit Figure!

Once you decide to stand for something you will weather all storms.

My colleague asked her Pastor this question and this is the answer she got:
"You don't want to work in the Breweries and yet you invest your money in Stock, and fix your money in bank, Do you know what they are using your money to invest in?"

It's a matter of the heart

1, By working there, you are contributing to the production of what Allah forbids i.e aiding evil
2, The money you earn from there is unclean, because it is gotten from the sale of forbidden things
3, The Prophet (SAW) said when we see evil we should correct it with our hand, if not capable of doing that, we should correct it with our mouth(i.e talk against it), and if not capable of doing that too, we should correct it with our mind(i.e feel sad that evil is being perpetrated and hate it), and that is the weakest of faith. If a Muslim truly hates (and he should) that some people are disobeying Allah(drinking alcohol), the least he should do is resent it, and I don't know how he can do that if he himself contributes to it.

Please Muslims let's stay away from aiding evil. You cannot die because you don't have job. Better remain unemployed than incur Allah's wrath. What you will eat from cradle till death has been destined. This world is too short. The Hereafter matters most.

Well, a christian can or cannot work at a brewery. If ur conscience allows you, den fine; if not, then don't.

In 1 Tim 3: 1-3, it talks about the office of a bishop. Verse 3 says, "Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

Verse 8 talks of deacons; Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, greedy of filthy lucre;

So if there are different categorisations for the bishop and the deacon, it means that your level of christianity (ur spiritual life) may convict you of what you deem right. If you think, as a leader and a role model, ur taking alcohol or even working in a brewery, may make others who look up to you to stray, then desist. As a deacon, you're more like an ordinary christian (not a pastor) but one who loves God, Here it says you can take wine, but not much (Dat may mean u might b permitted to work in a brewery). Note that the scripture doesn't say strong drink, it says wine.

However bottomline is your conscience. If it says go ahead, then fine. If not, then don't! God will always provide you with another job that suits your belief.

In other words, if your conscience allows you to kill, you'll do it with immediate effect?

I'm not talking about a seared conscience, am talking about a conscience that is fed with God's word everytime. A heart that's right with God, and not a reprobate heart. Prove your actions with God's word. If after quoting the scripture i quoted in my last post, he feels it's okay for him, then why not? As far as his (right) conscience allows him. Though personally, i won't consider working in a brewery or a tobacco company.

hi everybody! i dont exactly see where it says in the bible not to drink. didnt jesus turn water into wine? paul told timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach! so what are we arguing about?
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by alarainey(m): 9:40am On Aug 24, 2008
well Now,

You can work anywhere you want,
in any factory that produces anything e.g guns, ammunition, drinks etc
as long as you do not  use these things adversely yourself.

Importantly, Pray to your God that whoever uses the products you assist in creating will use them correctly, in moderation and for his ultimate glory.

A job is a job, you need to survive, Do what u need to do. Anybody that says you should not work there should get you another job. then you change.
and life continues,

Most pastors that molest children, impregnate the laity, steal church money, smoke marijuana at the wake of the night also have a conscience that is fed with God's word everytime. American mega pastor, Jimmy Swaggart was sponsoring the porn industry and patronizing prostitutes even when he was busy feeding the world with God's word.

I don't know why some people are comparing things like coca cola, pepsi, coffee, etc with Alcoholic beverages. Well, scientifically speaking, these have nothing in common. Alcoholic drinks required the fermentation of grains, hops, yeast, and water. While the other soft drinks were basically composed of soda, which is not that dangerous to our health as fermented grain, hops, yeast, etc. We even using soda in our foods for baking.

So, I would like to personnaly advise this person to not to take any position in the marketing division or testing division. But he can work in the Accounting Division, IT Division, of the company, in as much as he is not required to test the product or advertise the product to other people. Anyway, he should try and look for a more rewarding Job while he is working there. God Knows Better. Wish you all the Best!

Actually wisdom is needed in everything we do. What is making of each individuals varies. Moreso, we have babes that are growing in faith. The growing period takes time. Frankly speaking,a xtian should not work there as long as they promote the drinking of alcohols but frustration leads many xtians there. There are waiting and trying periods for every xtians at every stages so, learn to endure and stand as you wait. God we see us thru in Jesus name. Amen.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by Nobody: 4:15pm On Aug 25, 2008
@ sammy01: I agree with u my brother. We all shld learn 2 endure the trying times for our journeys as christians will not always be rosy.

I personally believe it's wrong for a xtian to work in such places as a brewery. The bible says it'll be better 4 a man 2 b thrown in the sea with a milestone around his neck than 2 cause any of "these little ones" [anoda man] 2 sin. And the Bible neva recommends we try 2 see how close we can get 2 sin, it simply says "flee!". Above all we should try 2 see all things tru God's eyes for only 2 different worlds will compete 4 our talents: 'The Evil' world and 'the Good'.

Look before u leap and let the Spirit of God be ur guide. God give us all the grace

@ sleekymag

We cannot make our judgments based on how our feelings perceives a thing because the TRUTH is not relative but absolute. You can't tell me an orange is a mango just because u feel so. Certainly NO! An orange remains an orange no matter how u feel, so what is wrong remains wrong no matter what ur conscience tells u except ur 'conscience' here means the 'Spirit of God'

Bros you are the one guilty of making Judgements based on what you feel or what your pastor as mis-led you to believe other wise you would not be saying you feel a christian should not work in a brewery. This beleif or feeling you have is completely unscriptural as there is absolutely no where in the bible that even remotely suggests that as christians we shouldn't drink talkless of work in a brewery. Besides it is common knowledge that Jesus not only drank wine, he turned water into wine and served his disciples wine at the last supper. Self righteous hypocites like you also accused Jesus Christ himself of being a drunkard
Luke 7:34:
34 The Son of Man,[a] on the other hand, feasts and drinks, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and other sinners!’

So it would be better you keep your false beliefs/doctrines to your self the bible is very clear that followers of christ are allowed to drink. That is if you don't have any sound biblical scripture to support your hallucinations.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by Nobody: 5:25pm On Aug 25, 2008
I never did say that the bible didnt support the use of alcohol. But lets think this way: If the bible says we should flee from sin and u by working in a brewery encourages a brother to get near to sin so he can fall then u are guilty.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by KunleOshob(m): 5:37pm On Aug 25, 2008
And how does working in a brewery get one close to sin (Remember Jesus performed the role of a brewery by turning water into an alcoholic beverage(wine)

@Auwal87,

So you can work in a brothel as long as you work in the IT division or accounting section? What is the difference between what you are saying now and what Pontius Pilate did during the crucifixion of Jesus?
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by KojoAseda(m): 5:26am On Aug 26, 2008
Coffee and coke don't have nicotine in them - they have caffeine in them. It's the same stimulant found in the kola nut.

Cigarettes have nicotine in them. Alcohol is alcohol.

Water is also addictive. I bet you'd have a hard time quitting.

Moderation is the key to enjoyment. If you abuse something - even food and water - it can be bad for your health.

There's nothing wrong with smoking a cigarette every now and then, or enjoying a few drinks on a Saturday night. There sure isn't anything wrong with working at a brewery. That's ridiculous.

To answer this ? you have to 1st define; who is a xtian? A xtian to me is follower of JESUS CHRIST. Then come the next ? Can Jesus work at a bewery ? The answer to this ? gives you the answer to the former one. God bless you all

That was in a wedding and not a brewery. If you ask someone , Can Jesus work in a brothel and he tells you that Jesus forgave mary magdalene who was a harlot and challenged her people to cast stones on her if they've committed no sin, will you consider that as a probable answer?

You got that right.

SO a christian sure can work in a brewery, a strip club, brothel and the army.
Re: Can A Christian Work At A Brewery? by brizmaleti: 1:00am On Aug 28, 2008
The first Miracle Jesus did was turning water into wine;and it stated that after they drank it,they were merry. An old friend was in israel sometime ago and he went to a wine shop, as he got there, he ordered for a non alcoholic wine;the attendant told him that there was nothing like a non alcoholic wine as every wine had some contents of alcohol;the same bible never condemned alcohol, what it condemed was the abuse of it.So what i am trying to say from this is i feel there is nothing wrong for a born again christian to work in breweries as it was not categoritically condemed in the bible, At times i begin wonder, i dont drink alcohol much but i feel meery whenever i do, not the same feeling i get when i drink coke or other beverages, Man u better work or you go hear am, 9ja don hard wella

Very poor uneducated analogy the bottom line is that Jesus Christ produced an alcholic beverage, which is what i also produced in brewery and there is absolutely nothing wrong in that as it is not a sinful act unlike your ill thought out comparision of a harlot which the bible clearly condems.

Christ Produced wine/alchohol
Christians can produce wine/alchohol

Christ was not a drunkard
Christians cannot be drunkards

Christ advocated moderation in drinking but still produced.
Christians can advocate moderation in drinking and still produce

Get on with your jobs o jare, angry
