Salaam alaikum bros and sisters,

I want to say thank you to all the people who post here for the sake of Allah. I also have additional important messages for us all. Pardon me, i will not be quoting verses or Hadiths, That can be an assignment /quiz with a prize attached.

---Allah says to us in the Holy Quran that Prophet Mohammed SAW is a perfect example for us.
If you think deeply about this it will be enough as a guiding light to understand Islam and behave in an Islamic way.

---You and I are Muslims, we are not ISLAM. ISLAM is perfect, Why? Because Allah said so. We on the other hand are not perfect but we can strive and this is why Allah gave us the guidelines to attain this. He wants us to strive, that is what is important.

---If you hear something done by muslims anywhere in the world, the first thing you ask is "What does the Quran say about this?", If you are unable to satisfactorily answer this, ask yourself "what will Rasulullah SAW say about this?", If your answer is still missing. Ask those who have knowledge. It is alright to ask from multiple sources (Imagine how we try to find a cure when we are ill), seeking the pleasure of Allah is even more important. At the end of the day, the onus lies with you because in your heart, you will know.

---Please when you post here or elsewhere, think about it "will Prophet Mohammed SAW speak or write this way?" It is easy to sin but it is even easier to make the effort not to sin.

---Whoever cleaned this post up, Allah will reward you

Wa alaikum salam warahmatullah wabarakatuhu
I need information about MICA in Lagos. I searched for their website but found none. Any info will be appreciated.

Also I understand NASFAT is a great resource for muslims. Please utilize these meetings because constant positive reminders and admonition will go a long way to help one keep the faith.

I love you all
Re: Muslims: What Did You Learn In Islam Recently? by Mustay(m): 5:33am On Jul 27, 2007
Yeah MICA is very ood and they'tr located at V.I. In terms of lectures, I think thy 've an edge over NASFAT (probably 'cos they use English). In any case, NASFAT too has or ha started their own English lectures. So, u can either choose from d yorua or english

Re: Muslims: What Did You Learn In Islam Recently? by ajibawealt(m): 12:19pm On Jul 27, 2007
Rajab is a month of cultivation, it is a sacred month and the first, virtuous and noble of them all. So it is appropriate to celebrate it ENTIRELY and to give attention to it by performing good acts, and refraining oneself from sins and offensive things, because it is the month of Allah. Fasting in the month of Rajab prevents one from sins.

Have a blessed jumat

i fasted last week Monday

WHEN WE TALK ABOUT FAITH, HERE'S NOTHING LIKE no shaking!

at on time, we are so spiritual you do your prayers promptly, wake up in d night 2 pray, highly reflective, and FLOW with Allah so to say

but AT ANOTHER TIME, U FEEL A DISCONNECTION WITH HIM AND YOU SAY 'THERE WAS A TIME I WAS SO SPIRITUAL, BUT NOW, I DON'T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE'.

IF U HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS B4, IT;S NOT PECULIAR 2 U.

IT HAPPENS 2 EVERY1. U ARE NOT ALONE. IT;S ALWAYS A CYCLE- HIGH, LOW. . .HIGH. . . IT CANT BE CONSTANT COS WE ARE HUMAN.

WHEN WE REALISE WE ARE ON A SPIRITUAL LOW, WE SHOULD REMAIN PATIENT AND PRAY 4 HIS SAKINAH, HIS TRANQUILITY, FOR HELP COMES WITH CALMNESS OF MIND.

IN ESSENCE, THEREFORE, WE SHOULD PRAY CEASELESSLY, MORESO WHEN OUR FAITH IS LOW, FOR THEN ALLAH WILL GIVE US TRANQUILITY AND ADD MORE FAITH 2 OUR FAITH

Allah 4bids scoffing at people which implies humiliating and belittling them 4 it could be psychologically damaging, and can be quite harmful.

Muslims are admonished 2be charitable in all things, and it is very uncharitable to inflict emotional wounds on people by being patronising or passing snide remarks.

If u can;t say something complimentary about someone, keep quite. u can never tell wHETHER the person u think u are better than is actually better than u in terms of spiritualism and piety.

who are we to feel we are better than d next man, even if we are apparently better off 2day?

remember, d phrase NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT!

May Allah be pleased with you. Thanks for keeping the thread going. I have not been around and very busy too. But when I am through, Insha Allah, I will bounce back.

May Allah continue to shower His blessings on us all and make our feet stand on the path of Islam.

Re: Muslims: What Did You Learn In Islam Recently? by Nobody: 1:28am On Jul 29, 2007
i was taught Muhammad appointed five other assassins, Abdullah ibn utaik,
Masud ibn Sanan, Abdullah ibn Unais, Abu Quadatu’l Harith ibn Rab’i
and Khaza’i ibn Utaik, to go to Khaiba to murder Abi’l Huqaiq. The deed
was carried out successfully, to the supposed glory of Allah.
On another occasion, Muhammad praised Zaid for commanding the
brutal murder of an aged woman named Umm Kirfa. Her legs were tied
to camels. These were driven in different directions until the unfortunate
woman was torn asunder.
Muhammad also sent ‘Amr ibn Umayyah and jabbar ibn Sakhar from
Medina to Mecca to assassinate Abu Sufan ibn Harb. However, those
hired killers failed in their mission because the plot was uncovered
before they were able to strike. (Ibn Hishan Siratur Rasul vol. 3,
pp.89,90).
Some escaped Muhammad’s hit squads, but they could not escape
his venomous outbursts. Since in Islam, love and mercy are regarded as
weaknesses, Muhammad was not expected to pardon those who
offended him. Vendetta is an extolled virtue in Islam. Listen to this one
of the suras of Koran that many Muslims believe supersedes the Holy
Bible:
Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he! No profit to
him from all his wealth, and all his gains! Burnt soon will he be in
a fire of blazing flame! “ His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood
– as fuel! – A twisted rope of Palm - leaf fibre around her (own)
neck!”
(Sura 111:1-5).
This sura is dedicated solely to the cursing of one of Muhammad’s
uncles, Abu Lahab, meaning father of Lahab, but nicknamed father of
flame because he rejected Muhammad’s prophetic claims.
Since Muslims believe that every word, comma, semi-colon, full
stop, in the Koran is the word of Allah, we should take the above sura as
a “revelation” from him. It proves further that Allah has no love, no
mercy and no forgiveness, only cursing, killing, wars and judgment. and so i ponder

Salam,

My wife just gave birth.i shld have been looked it up earlier, but i just started now-names. names are very important in Islam.I also found some unsettling things.According to one of th texts i read, it is forbidden to names your kids after angels(jibril, etal)which a lot of us do.

i'd decided to name my son talib(which means seeker, enquirer, student) but my old man says the name is more arabic than muslim.ie, there are christian arabs, and that name is not a wholly muslim name. he worked in the middle east, and he'd actaully been asked by arab muslims if he was a muslim or christian, because his name,(lateef) is apparently more generic arab than generic muslim).

Just something for us to think about . . . .
