I just got a new HP530 Laptop. I am having difficulty in adding a new modem (Standard Modem bps), that is a multilinks box phone which I use for browsing on my old system.

After getting to the Modem Options, I found an AUDIO something modem already installed on COM3 but in trying to add the standard modem, and clicking next, it does not show the ports available for me to chose.

My problem now is that I cant find port to add the standard modem.

Are u using serial connection or USB

conexant audio modem on port 3, probably. com ports are assigned automatically otherwise your modem may not be compatible wit vista.

try adding the modem manually via Add New hardware, dont let windows auto detect the modem, select manually from a list, and if offered com ports select the last one. if none appears then your modem is not compatible with vista.
