If you're not 100% Caucasian, you belong to the trace culture in your blood. I'm sorry to rain on the parade of anyone that thinks otherwise. That is the existing law on recism, until maybe the next century.

I agree their acting skills are rather pathetic, but my angel girl loves me to sit with her while she watches it - so it's worth it.

Yes I saw a few episodes of 'Thank God You're Here', it gave me a good laugh!

Border Security is really interesting.

I understand the argument, but it is faulty. The main reason why people cling to it is because of the tainted race history of the US.
1. Culture is something that is not inborn, it is acquired during your socialisation period. It is not in the blood
2. Your skin tone will have a serious effect on how you perceive yourself and how others perceive you during that period. It will be/is an extremely important driver during that period, but is not the only defining characteristic
3. Your culture is largely what you choose it to be out of the different options life has provided you

I just want to concur with what Davidylan said. There seems to be this running trend amongst black peeps to announce every bit of their non black association. It is quite one thing when it is clear that the individual is bi - racial or multi - racial, however, it is quite another when the individual's appearance is purely black, and yet they insist on issuing a roll call of all their non black ancestry.
No one is asking anyone to deny their parentage as it were, however, such peeps who belong to the latter category would do well to realise that most Caribbean and American whites are quite mixed as well, with black and Amerindian blood. However, they keep their lips well sealed on the matter, as far as they are concerned they are white. When all is said and done, people can be whatever they want to be, it is, after all down to the individual to choose. However, while I believe that blacks should welcome those who wish to identify with that part of them which is black, I really have no time for those peeps who belong to the latter category.
Let each individual make up his own mind on this issue, but let them remember that as Davidylan said, when push comes to shove, all others see is that black bit and nothing else.

What is so wrong in wanting to associate with your White/Asian/black background? I am not fully black, so why should I claim that I am? How ridiculous is that?
However, I don't go around saying 'I'm mixed, I'm mixed'. Usually, when asked my ethinicity, I say that I'm black (I'm half Nigerian, half Bahamian) even though that isn't true. My mom always gets mad when I say so, she's like: 'What about your British background?'.

Physically, I've got the mixed traits. My skin tone is different, my hair color is different (it's so brown that it's almost red). My sister looks more mixed than I do, her hair is very long. Someone even called her Spanish.

In my opinion, if you're mixed, even if it's not obvious, you should be proud to say it out loud.

Most Black people think that way. You HAVE to claim that you're black because they want you to. I AM NOT fully Black, I'll never claim that I am. I don't even associate with my Black family. Although, I want to know more about the African culture, THAT is why I joined this site. I came here to get to know my Black side, not to ditch my White side.

Retro, as I said in my previous post, I made a clear distinction about the cases I was speaking of. I also stated that it is down to the individual to choose whatever it is that they want to be. I simply stated my position on the issue and thus it stands.

I know you did. I was responding to this:

'however, it is quite another when the individual's appearance is purely black, and yet they insist on issuing a roll call of all their non black ancestry.'

I totally see your point. There's a girl who used to be in my sister's class. She part Greek and Black, although she looks 100 % Black. She darker than Oprah, really dark. It seems wierd whenever she says she's mixed.
But I don't see anything wrong in claiming your percentages even though it isn't obvious.

i truely agree with this statement. i'm not mix or whatever but i hate when people try to claim other nationalities when we all know that most of you is black. if you are mostly black or look mostly black( meaning, noone goes around trying to figure out what you are) then you are black. in september at my school, we had international day. so everyone came in there culture outfits and flags. this boy, if you look at him, you will automatically say he's black. when he saw me and my freind with our green and white( you know, we got to represent) he asked us what we were. we said nigerian. then when it came to him, he was like, well my mom is black, white, indian, and my dad is black, white, puerto rico and some other rubbish. NOw, you tell me, how would you picture this boy to look in your head. wouldn't you think that he would be light skin or whatever with curly or somekind of soft wavy hair. but the guy is dark skinned and is hair is like natural black hair.
