TheSuperNerd:Well, thanks for your response, you see how mature it is? (If you know what I mean). We are all here to familarize, have fun and learn a lot of things which I must confess I have, it isn't good when we make simple matters look complex.I like your pyschology example but if your knowledge about something isn't so much, it is better you check the antecedents so you won't make some huruhuru conclusions. Away from that, despite the fact that I have quarelled with her so much in the past, when she does something commendable, I acknowledge it and like her comment and if she errs , I point it out to her too irrespective of the outcome...that's what good friends do. |

naturalwaves: And even if it's true that he is overwhelmed by the privilege why do you have to call him "local". A lot of these footballers are from very poor background and an opportunity of this magnitude can overwhelm someone who hasn't been exposed to the outside world. Secondly,if he wasn't good Manu wouldn't have selected him , so scrap that issue of getting carried away. Let him enjoy himself and all we can do is wish the young man success. And I don't think the hotel look crappy. Where have you been ? Because I have been to three different continents and stayed in numerous hotels. Oga,let the young man be,biko. 3 Likes |

OdenigboAroli:...Yeah, that was why I said there is always a first time for everything, he will get polished soon hopefully. OdenigboAroli:Relax sir, being good and not concentrating are not mutually exclusive. You could be good and be prone to losing concentration when needed. He looks like someone whose legs will shake when he wanna take a penalty kick simply because the fans are whistling at him. I still maintain my stance on the hotel from the beddings to the dinning room is just average for an international competition, it doesn't matter if you have toured the whole world. 1 Like |

safarigirl: If Akinjide Idowu, Bernard Bulbwa, Joshua Enaholo, Mustapha Abdullahi, Godwin Saviour,Ifeanyi Mathew,Muazam(droped because he lost form) are not part of the flying EagleS you know from the Under 17 then you don't know this team well. Only Sokari, Ifeany Ifeanyi and Moses are the new inputs. Points of correction- Joshua Enoholo is not A newbie he was the 1st keeper since from the Under 17 setup Alampasu was just furtunate to be the no1 at the Under 17 world cup becouse of the absent of Enaholo. He's back with full force to take back his position -Izu Omego wasn't the on bondage at the AYC it was Ifeanyi Ifeanyi. Thanks 4 Likes |

Pereira: a Red Devil in seventh heaven Andreas Pereira knows a thing or two about red devils. Having spent his adolescence representing Les Diables Rouges from U-15 to U-18 level, the Belgian-born youngster opted for a different breed when he joined the Red Devils of Manchester United in 2011. There, he has already started carving out his own little corner of heaven after being named the club's most exciting prospect in 2014/15, although thoughts of club football are currently far from the talented midfielder's mind. In New Zealand for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, Andreas Pereira has his head in the clouds all the same. Poised to parade his skills on the global stage, he will nonetheless be representing the country of his parents at the finals. "I'm delighted to be here and I can't wait for this World Cup to begin," he said. "I'm so proud to be able to represent Brazil in this competition." The story of how he came to choose the South American side has much to do with his father, Marcos Pereira, a former forward who spent his entire career in Belgium with the likes of Mechelen and Royal Antwerp. Andreas Pereira hails originally from Duffel in the province of Antwerp, but his father has been a major influence, helping him progress as a player and plot his path in the game – which led ultimately to the 20-year-old choosing Brazil over Belgium in 2014. "It was a natural decision," he said. "With my parents being both Brazilian, I feel Brazilian as well – nothing more and nothing less." His way of playing merely reinforces that idea, with his slick technique and little tricks instantly conjuring an air of Jogo Bonito. Wearing the No10 shirt, Andreas Pereira is an entertainer on the ball, capable of building moves, laying on sublime assists and weighing in with goals of his own. "I have to admit that I feel closer to Brazilian football than Belgian football," he explained. "The two mentalities have nothing in common, the culture isn't the same and the football is different. The Belgium team are good, but Brazil are the best team in the world." At U-20 World Cup level, the South American giants are certainly among the most successful sides in the competition's history. Brazil have appeared in 16 of the tournament's 18 editions, missing out only at Japan 1979 and Turkey 2013, and they have lifted the trophy five times – just one less than Argentina. Needless to say, Andreas Pereira is determined that he and his team-mates draw level with their arch-rivals. "We've come to New Zealand with just one goal in mind: the title. Of course we have to take every match as it comes, but that's our ambition." Van Gaal praise Although he is focused on the task at hand, Andreas Pereira has another burning ambition as well – to break through with the Red Devils. Chief orchestrator for Manchester United's reserve team, Andreas Pereira has not yet had a chance to prove his worth in the Premier League, save for a cameo appearance at Old Trafford on 15 March when he came on for Juan Mata during a 3-0 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur. "I'm very proud of my time at United," he said. "I think I did a good job this season and I was rewarded for that. I just hope it continues and, of course, that I get into the first team." Crucially, the young Brazilian has United manager Louis van Gaal firmly in his camp. "Andreas has everything you need to become a full member of the first team," the Dutchman explained recently, when the midfielder put pen to paper on a contract extension. "He has natural talent combined with a real thirst to learn. I'm delighted with his progress this season and I can't wait to keep working with him to develop his talent even more." The respect flows both ways, with Andreas Pereira thrilled with the direction his career has taken since he swapped PSV Eindhoven for United four years ago. "He's a great coach," said the Brazil schemer. "I like the way he acts towards me: he's giving me my chance. We speak in English, or sometimes in Flemish, and we really have a great rapport." The youngster's time at Old Trafford has also been made easier by the attitude of his team-mates, with Belgian dynamo Adnan Januzaj and Brazilian full-back Rafael proving especially welcoming. "I have no problems with any of my colleagues. They're all friends, though Adnan and Rafael are possibly the two players I get along with the best," he noted, before adding with a grin: "But don't go thinking that's just because of their nationality." Despite the protests, Andreas Pereira's Brazilian heritage and Belgian education have undoubtedly been vital to his development, blending to make him the talented playmaker who cannot wait to prove his worth in New Zealand. "I think I've taken the positives from all the cultures I've grown up with," he added. "They've made me the player I am today." The rest of the world is about to find out exactly what that entails. Rodriguez on target as Colombia hold out Colombia were forced to work hard for an opening win at the FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015, having with stand a resurgent Qatar in the second-half of their 1-0 win. A solitary Joao Rodriguez goal the South Americans off to the perfect start against the Asian champions, having looked to be cruising to a routine win, only for the game to turn on its head after the break. Both teams spent the early periods of the game feeling each other out, as neither really made any headway in the first 15 minutes. But as Colombia slowly grew in the game, suddenly everything clicked. Juan Quintero chipped the ball in to Santos Borre, who laid the ball of perfectly into the path of Rodriguez. His finish was unerring, firing between the legs of Yousof Hassan. Qatar were really struggling to find their way as Colombia dominated possession, and Rodriguez could have ended up with a first-half hat-trick. First, great control and a tight turn saw him blast a shot straight at Hassan, before Jeison Angulo's pass saw a mix-up at the back, with the Chelsea man – on loan in Portugal – almost able to capitalise. The second-half saw things switch quickly though. Felix Sanchez clearly had some choice words as his side burst out of the blocks and Colombia were on the back foot for the first time. A sublime through-ball, slicing through the right channel found Amoez Ali. His cut back fell to the feet of Jassim Al Jalabi, but his effort only ruffled the side-netting, but it was a chance of note for Qatar. Three minutes later though they really should have been level. The same duo were involved again, with good strength from Ali to shield the ball inside the area seeing it shuffled across to Al Jalabi. A tackled denied him the chance at a shot, but it squirmed invitingly to Ahamed Alsadi only for his weak effort to be too close to Alvaro Montero. Akram Afif tested Montero again from range, but delightful control from Alexis Zapata in the Qatari box could have settled the game. He juggled his way through after Borre's lay-off, but the his high effort did not reflect the skill that created it. Sultan Alkuwari's sliced shot was the closest Qatar came to finding an equaliser as they probed into the closing stages, but Colombia held out for the three points. Qatar will look to get off the mark against Portugal in their next game, while Colombia can secure progression when they meet Senegal. |

Three off as Mali beat Mexico Mali have taken an early lead in Group D at the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a 2-0 win over Mexico at Dunedin's Otago Stadium. The match was won and lost in a crazy second-half in which three players - one Malian, two Mexican - were sent off before two goals in three minutes decided the outcome. El Tri will be cursing themselves, having been a man up and firmly on top, and the CONCACAF champions certainly dominated a poor first half. However, in a game of few chances, they could ill afford to miss the kind of gilt-edged opportunity Guillermo Martinez passed up on 34 minutes. He did all the hard work, jinking cleverly into the box after racing clear on the the right, but his finish was wild with the goal at his mercy and the ball flew high and wide. If the first period was fairly dull, the second was anything but. Passions had been slowly rising as the game became increasingly physical and Hamidou Maiga paid the price, receiving his marching orders on 56 minutes after clumsily bringing down Hirving Lozano. But then, just as Mexico seemed to have the game within their grasp, they self-destructed. Within a period of two minutes, they went from being a man up to finding themselves one down, with Diego Gama sent off following an off-the-ball incident and Oscar Bernal earning a second yellow for bringing down Souleymane Diarra. That left Mali's way clear and they took full advantage, moving into the lead with 14 minutes remaining when Adama Traore headed home from Youssouf Kone's inviting free-kick. The points were then sealed just three minutes later when Dieudonne Gbakle scored a cracker, working a one-two with Alassane Diallo, swerving past a couple of despairing challenges and shooting low just inside the far post.
