An observation I have is why ...from what I have read so far from post that the average turnout weight in 6 months is 80 kg only Live weight Means something is not in order...either feed, breed , or environment / health , basically @ 180 days you should NOT be having less than 120 kg live weight. if the aforementioned are OK. |

Re: Pig Farmers Lets Meet Here by dynamix101(m): 1:24pm On Feb 10, 2017 |
trydaleolatunde: What breed are u talking about?? Even if u give local chicken boost and vitamins and broiler finisher, when it attains its max weight all other feed is a waste. Same in piggery. There are breeds that once u get 60-70kg max, sell off. The issue we should concentrate on should be how do we get them to that market weight on time and at a reduced cost. In my farm, thats our focus, not just developing hybrids alone, but maximising on the wonderful benefits accruable if we can successfully manage local breeds better because in the long run, they are cheaper to procure and less riskier to raise if you are concerned with just fattening 1 Like |

We started our farm in October last year in Nasarawa. We have 58 pure breed of Large white sows . Good to announce that of the 58 sows, 32 are pregnant and just on 12th, the first farrowed with 11 piglets. We are planning to stock 200 sows with AI station. Happy to say that our pigs are well fed. Possibly the best fed pigs in Nigeria. New Exotic breeds of Large white and Duroc piglets just bought by us at 75,000. We will be selling live pigs in large quantities. 1 Like 2 Shares |
