I properly shut down my laptop yesterday only to turn it on this morning and its not coming on. Please what could be wrong? its a Lenovo brand

Remove the battery, while the battery is out, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds. Put the battery back and switch on.

Remove the battery and plug the charger to the laptop. If it doesn't come on, then take it to a laptop technician. But if it comes on then you may need to get a new battery. Sorry about the lost work hours.
