calyb247: It's just a loan word from Hausa language. Some Northerners forget how to say school in their own language so sometimes they use a loan word. I'm surprised that TIV people don't have a way to say school though in their own language. They have always been very proud of their language. |

Chillisauce: Akamu - pap - igbo. . . Efo and Ofe are not thesame. Efo (vegetable) is just a type of soup, whereas Ofe refers to soup generally. Obe should be a more appropriate word. |

Re: Similarity In Some Nigerian Languages by Nobody: 1:28am On Jul 05, 2014 |
"isi gini" could mean what did you say? Or it might also mean what did you cook depending on the context.Ka ihe ikwuru could also be used to mean what did you say? It depends on dialects and what comes easily to you in Igbo. There are many synonyms like that in Igbo like "Ukwu" could be leg or waist depending. In a prurient manner "amu" could either be laughter or pe*nis again depending on the context. |

Dr swag: TITTLED MAN Oguta people are descendants of Bini people banished by the Oba of Benin centuries ago. Many of them still do t regard themselves as igbos . Some say onitsha people, original onitsha people also came from either Benin or Yoruba. Any wonder that have Obi of onitsha when king in Igbo is mainly Eze or Igwe 1 Like |

Re: Similarity In Some Nigerian Languages by pazienza(m): 1:08am On Jul 06, 2014 |
toshmann: King in Igbo means Eze. Igwe,Obi, Onye isiala, etc, are all titles only an Eze bear, and hence are synonymous with Eze. Oguta people are not descendants of Bini people, rather their ancestors could have in distant past, resided in Biniland, before they migrated to their present location. They had always been Igbo speaking, even when in Bini,as there are no evidence of dead Bini language in Oguta, rather we have few bini borrowed words here and there. By the way, Obi is an Igbo title, and has nothing to do with Yorubas or Binis, as even in the hinterland of Igboland,we have Obi's, for example, Obi of Ora Ifite. 1 Like |

Chigold101: You are wrong. Spoon in written and standard Igbo is Ngaji. Btw, i am hearing of this ngazi for the first time. As i had lived in Enugu, Onitsha,Aba and Abakaliki. And in all these Igbo towns, the street word for spoon is NGAJI. Even in my town in Idemili, we say Ngaji. 1 Like |
