1. Christopher Robin
Winnie the Pooh is written by A.A. Milne.
It is a story about Pooh and his friends like Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo, and Owl who lives in Hundred Acre Wood. All those characters are taken care by a boy named Christopher Robin who is a good friend of them all. Do you know that Christopher Robin is actually a real boy? He is the real son of the author, A.A. Milne. The author decided to let his son be a part of his classic story. On Christopher Robin’s first birthday, Milne gave him a teddy bear named Edward. This bear was two feet tall, had light color, and often lost his eyes. This teddy bear was also the real inspiration of Winnie the Pooh. As Christopher Robin grew up, he did not like to be a character in his father’s story because his friends always teased him as a child since Winnie the Pooh is a story identical to children.

2. Pocahontas
Everyone knows Pocahontas as a free-spirited Indian girl who loves nature, but not everyone knows that she was a real person. The real Pocahontas was a Virginia Indian woman who was born in Matoaka. After her marriage, she was more known as Rebecca Rolfe. The Disney version is really based on her real life story. She was a daughter of a charismatic Indian man named Powhatan. In 1607, she really saved an English man named John Smith when her father tried to kill him, just like the Disney version. The difference is, Pocahontas was only 11 years old when she met John Smith who was already 28 years old. The real relationship between John Smith and Pocahontas was not as romantic as in the Disney film. They were not real couple in real life.

3. Jack Sparrow
The story of Captain Jack Sparrow from the Disney films “Pirates of the Caribbean” is also based on the real journey of a real pirate very long time ago. During that time, he was the most respected pirate who successfully became the best raider in piracy history. His real name was Bartholomew Roberts, but people called him Black Bart because of his dark eyes and black locks. One popular thing about him is, he was really merciless when it comes to fighting. The character of Jack Sparrow is inspired by him, except the fact that Black Bart was much creepier than Jack Sparrow. At least Jack Sparrow still has sense of humor and is not that cruel.

4. Mulan
Mulan is another Disney Princess who has film based on a true story. The story of Mulan has been very popular in China even before Disney released the animated film of it because she is very well known of a hero from that country. She lived during the Northern Wei dynasty from 385CE to 534CE very long time ago. In the Disney version, at first she does not have enough skills for wars. The real her is really good with sword and weapons, even Kung Fu. She is also skilled in shooting arrows and riding horse. She had joined army since she was eighteen years old. The big story of her real life is shown well in the Disney version, but of course without the lucky cricket and Mushu the read dragon.

5. Tarzan
Did Tarzan and Jane really exist in real life? There are two cases of “wild children” like Tarzan that really happened in 1751 and 1800. First, in 1751, a wild unknown girl who dressed in furs and looked like an Eskimo suddenly appeared in a little town of Sogny, Champagne. Some people finally noticed her, took care of her, and washed her until they discovered this girl has a very white skin. Surprisingly, she only ate raw animals from her own hunting. She needed some time to learn some words for basic communication. Another evidence is from France in 1800. A boy called Victor appeared in the Aveyron forest. He had behaviors like animals, and like the first case, he took a lot of efforts to learn words and communicate well.

6. Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins, a nanny who is practically perfect in every way, has inspired many people. Perhaps you think that she is too good to be real, but this magical nanny is a real person. The real Mary Poppins emerged in the form of a 92 years old woman named Brenda Ashford. She has been a nanny for 62 years and she has taken care of more than 100 children. Brenda Ashford really has passion in being a nanny. When she was 18 years old, she took a nanny school. She loves taking care of babies. Her youngest brother was one of the babies she has taken care of. All her nanny life story is a book written by herself. The book is titled “Tuppence for Paper and String”. This inspiring woman totally deserves to get awarded as the real life Mary Poppins
