lagtech: Laptop Hard Drives
When buying a laptop-or selling one -or fixing-note the different kinds of hard drives.
Laptops before 2005 mostlly used IDE hard drives. These are not manufactured on a large basis anyone and are found in Pentium M and older laptops plus a few 2005/2006 dual cores.
-Its hard to find any above 40gb and very hard abover 80gb
-More expensive than SATA hard drive. A 320gb sata costs like $25 to $35 used. A 320GB IDE costs like $150 used.
-They are more delicate than SATA because of the Pins.
When your clients complain that the Pentium M has a small 40gb hard-explain why.
SATA Hard Drives.
All laptops after 2006 use SATA
1.8 hard drives-these are smaller than the 2.5" IDE and SATA and are usually found in small laptops like HP nc2400 and some netbooks
Solid State Hard Drives (SSD): These are more expensive and transfer data much quicker. Windows can boot in less than 10 seconds with a solid state hard drive. If you see an i3 laptop with 64gb solid state hard drive-dont disregard the size-respect the faster speed!

How to replace damaged LCD screen on a Compaq Presario CQ56 and HP G56 laptops.

Compaq Presario CQ56 abd HP G56 are similar models with different names.

As you see, in the LCD was cracked badly.


Before you start, make sure the computer is turned off.

STEP 1.

Unlock and remove the laptop battery.

STEP 2.

Using a sharp object remove one screw cover located in the lower left corner of the display bezel.

STEP 3.

Remove one more cover located in the lower right corner of the bezel.

STEP 4.

Now remove both screws found under those covers.

You’ll have to use a very small Phillips screwdriver.

The screwdriver will not engage the screw at the correct angle but it’s still possible to remove the screw.

STEP 5.

Carefully insert your fingers under the bezel on the top of the display.

Wiggle the bezel to separate it from the display cover.

STEP 6.

You can use a guitar pick to separate the bezel.

STEP 7.

Continue separating the bezel on the top and bottom sides of the display assembly.

STEP 8.

The screen bezel has been removed from the display assembly.

STEP 9.

Remove two screws securing the LCD mounting brackets on the top side of the display assembly.

STEP 10.

Loosen (do not remove completely) screws secufing the left display hinge.

STEP 11.

Loosen screws securing the right display hinge.

STEP 12.

Separate the LCD assembly from the display back cover just enough to access two screws on the side.

Remove two screws from the right mounting bracket.

STEP 13.

Remove two more screws from the left mounting bracket.

STEP 14.

Separate the LCD from the display back cover and place it the front side down on the keyboard.

STEP 15.

Now you can access the display cable on the back.

Remove clear tape securing the connection.

STEP 16.

Unplug the display cable.

STEP 17.

Now you can remove the damaged LCD screen completely and replace it with a new one.

Assemble the laptop following all disassembly steps in the reverse direction.

You can find a new replacement screen using the original model number.

The model number printed on the back side.

In my Compaq Presario CQ56 I had the following screen installed: LP156WH2 (TL)(QB).

This a positive development Lagtech. I would like to suggest the following towards development of us non-engineers who are in the agency business:

1. Contact this InsideMyLaptop.com guy. Ask if he has a complete A-Z video tutorial versions of his guides on repairing laptops. Everything. If he does, rap him up on how much he sells or will sell to you.
Buy and duplicate in some volumes and send to us agents. Am sure if we have to pay for it, it can't be more than we can afford but it will surely go a long way in developing us for this business and in turn grow this business for you.

2. The guy gave some recommendations on the best laptop repair tools. He did not stop theren he went ahead to even give link to where to buy some of them on ebay. That's awesome. Could you combine your experience, check the cost of landing this set of tools for us agents as well so that we work towards getting our set each. Make we kuku know say we are a complete laptop mechanics...but ones that know what they are doing and have the necessary tools 247.

These days, whatever puts food on the table is what matters men even though person don go "yunifasiti".

sorry miss.. What its saying is that u provided an alternative mail when you were doing the registration which your password can be sent to incase of unforseen circumstances like this where u forget your password.. So, enter the email and your password will be sent there..

If you didnt registerted any alternative email for password recovery, it wont ask. It asked cos u entered it. Take your time to figured out which email it was..
