This is largely due to the very harsh heat wave from the Sahara in summer. Flight tickets and hotel accommodation crash at this time. A temperature controlled area will be a juicy all-year attraction especially to the money baggers from the West. Tourism has already overtaken oil as Dubai highest revenue earner. The massive growth in GDP we've seen in the last few years is due to the expansion of the non-oil sector - construction, agriculture, telecoms, retail, banking, manufacturing, services, entertainment etc etc. and long may it continue. We simply do not make enough from oil to meet the developmental needs of the nation. Do you know the auto manufacturing industry which is about to explode in Nigeria can earn us $100 billion a year within the next 5 to 7 years? We are on course to being the main supplier of vehicles to the West African sub-region and beyond. That's what I call progress, not necessarily building some oversized shopping mall. 2 Likes |
