Ajimobi Promises To Consider Traditionalists by omolomolarinero: 5:51am On Jul 08, 2014 |
Oyo State Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi has promised to consider the interest of the traditional religion worshippers. He said traditional religion was inherited “from our ancestors and it must not be neglected.” The governor, who spoke while receiving traditional religion delegates in Ibadan, said he is ready to work with every indigene irrespective of religion. He added: “Your demands have been noted. Your representatives and the government will soon meet to agree on the issues raised and how to implement your demands. I promise to carry you along in government’s activities.” The traditionalists petitioned the government, condemning their non-inclusion in the state’s activities. In a seven-page protest, titled: “The Plight of Traditional Religion In Oyo State”, the group frowned at what it termed neglect, relegation, discrimination, denigration and blasphemy of its religion. The statement, signed by the Araba of Ibadanland, High Chief Priest Oyewusi Amoo Fakayode, urged the Ajimobi administration to borrow a leaf from the Aregbesola administration in Osun State by recognising traditional religion. http://whatsupibadan.com/2014/07/08/ajimobi-promises-to-consider-traditionalists/ |
