Anybody interested in robotics? I know I am. If so, post me here on what you know. |

Seyi i wanted to go study a crash course on it in the UK but the stupid high commission people didn't allow me even after i paid the fees, heeeediots!! I always wanted to make robots, its been apassion since childhood of using LEGO toys anyway, i am in the IT field now, managing it |

Robotics especially nano-robotics and Nano-technology in general is an interest of mine too. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by clocky(m): 4:07pm On Jul 18, 2006 |
You dont need to go to college to get involved in some simple robotics projects. The easiest way if u dont want to get into any electronics stuff is to use Lego mindstorms http://mindstorms.lego.com/. Lots of books are available online or can be bought at amazon that shows you how to go about creating and programming the RCX microcontroller |

Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Ynot(m): 7:00pm On Jul 20, 2006 |
I'm a robotics hobbyist. I've been playing with microcontrollers for a long time but the first complete programmable robot i built was from parallax's boe-bot kit i bought from Radioshack. Parallax make Basic Stamp microcontrollers series and their Pbasic software is easy just as Basic programming language. Vex robotics is good as well for beginners. So yes, am interested in robotics and love to build electronics projects in general. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Neoteny(m): 7:03pm On Jul 20, 2006 |
so, in the final analysis-YOU ARE A ROBOTICS HOBBYIST? |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Ynot(m): 7:05pm On Jul 20, 2006 |
Yep. Thats what i do. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Neoteny(m): 5:52pm On Jul 21, 2006 |
so, that's what you do huh? |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by kodewrita(m): 3:44pm On Jul 22, 2006 |
not a bad idea, i am actually interested in robotics and might end up specialising in it as a masters course. |

Hey markesh what university you goin maybe my Junior brother can go there |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by redmonsoon: 2:57pm On Jul 26, 2006 |
I believe we are all missing on important point. Theres not much sense in wanting or loving robotics without a reasonable grounding in artifical intelligence and programming of artificial neural networks. So lets talk about that, cos we are only discussing what others have been able to do applying this knowledge, lets oroginate our own ideas. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Neoteny(m): 4:17pm On Jul 26, 2006 |
you are off the mark there, young 'un. u dont need any grounding in AI or neural nets to appreciate bots or to want to build one. except if u aim to build the next ASIMO or AIBO or a swarm of self-correcting bots using distributed intelligence. these guys are hobbyists and just wanna build a runaround so your basic nAxis algorithm will do. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by seyijason(m): 6:22pm On Jul 26, 2006 |

Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by redmonsoon: 3:09pm On Jul 28, 2006 |
Neoteny, IM glad u have an ego cos it means u have something dat can be both a blessing and a, At any rate, what I was suggesting is that rather dan join the bandwagon and enjoy the benefits of other peoples intellectual muscle flexing, we should engender discourses that will spur similar trends and possibly yield results that would make theirs pale into obscurity. THATS THE CHALLENGE. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Neoteny(m): 4:12pm On Jul 28, 2006 |
redmonsoon: no need for the jibe at my ego. all i said in response to your high-falutin post was that these guys are amateur bot builders and enthusiasts who want to do something simple. you said "theres not much sense, " in having this enthusiasm without a grounding in AI and ANN. i only aim to say you can appreciate stuff without knowing the underlying cogs and wheels interplay. |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by allonym: 7:56pm On Jul 29, 2006 |
I've got plenty of interests in robotics. If you want to see one that I've built, check this out: login to my ftp server: ftp://129.21.251.157 with username: oopic and password: balbot I know the video is pretty large. . . I'll work on recoding it to reduce the size - but a dsl connection should get it within a few minutes. . . 56k downloaders. . .umm. . yeah, i'm working on a smaller one for you! My thesis is mostly AI stuff, I've worked on robots for FIRST robotics (a high school competition in the USA) as well as IGVC (http://www.igvc.org) another competition that is held within the USA (though it is an international competition - this past year there were teams from Canada, India, and Japan). |

PLEASE I NEED A SOFTWARE FOR TRANSFERING OF A CLIP FROM MY VIDEO CAMCORDER TO MY SYSTEM. I WILL BE VERY GLAD IF U GUYS CAN HELP ME OUT. AND ALSO A SOFTWARE FOR EDITTING VIDEO AND FOR REMOVAL OF SPYWARE |
Re: Anyone Interested In Robotics? by Neoteny(m): 11:45am On Aug 02, 2006 |
@atocmos windows movie maker 2 will do it, but i tink u need to have service pack 2 installed. or u can try the earlier version. but i tink the best is xilisoft 3gp video converter as for spyware i prefer lavasoft's ad-aware. it's free too but there are others u can try at www.download.com. hope this helps. cheers. |
