HOW TO SET UP A TABLE WATER PRODUCTION PLANT.

Submitted By Sky

Experiences of global financial meltdown, the dwindling oil revenue, high unemployment rate and increased social vices call for increased job and income opportunities in Nigeria.

Establishment of small-scale industries is one of the many ways of creating job and income opportunities. The need to diversify the economy from oil revenue cannot be over emphasized. Diversification of the economy will reduce dependence on oil, and to some extent, bring the country out of the economic doldrums. This project is one of those that can assist every individual and the country solve some of these economic and social problems.

TABLE WATER PRODUCTION PLANT: will create more jobs and provide alternative incomes for Nigerians as the technology can easily be managed by the middle and low level manpower.

Water is a universal consumable requires by every living human every day. It is the most important nutrient required in the ration and constitute up to 70% of the body. It is the medium of all metabolic activities in the body. For this reason, water is consumed heavily in every meal. Sachet and Bottled water is the most common means of drinkable water on the street in most Nigerian cities and villages.

To establish a production plant for sachet water and bottled water, the capital required is up to 5 million Naira(excluding the apartment). The first thing to do is to acquire a plot of land where to site the plant. A minimum of 8 rooms bungalows(for both the bottled and the sachet) should be constructed on the site and a borehole sunk at strategic location.

The rooms are allocated as follows:
1.General office and sales
2.Production room(Bottled)
3.Production room(Sachet)
4.Finished product room(Bottled)
5.Finished product room(Sachet)
6.Cloak room
7.Laboratory/Materials room
8.Toilet.

REGISTRATION
Arrange with CAC and NAFDAC to register the company and the product.

To ease the registration, accreditated Agent/Consultant should be contacted to specify the plan of the factory. The consultants are unofficial NAFDAC agents that is fully abreast of the requirements and specifications of NAFDAC/CAC and they charge up to N300,000 to speed up and obtain a NAFDAC approval for a plant though the official amount charged by NAFDAC is N85,000. The agents are recognized by NAFDAC and make the site inspection and approval to go hitch free.

The license is renewable every 2years and 5years for Sachet and Bottled water respectively.

PRODUCTION PROCESS
1. Water is pumped from the borehole into the two overhead tanks of 2,500 lines each.

2. Sample of water is taken to the laboratory for analysis and necessary treatment carried out. Chlorine is added to required level.

3. The water passes through a series of industrial Sand and Carbon filters outside the main building before entering the production room.

4. In the production room, the water pass through another sets of filter cartridges and ultraviolet light water sanitizer(or Ozonizing machine) before going into the Automatic liquid packaging machine/Bottle line, and the finished packed product is removed manually into the finished product room for distributions.

PROFITABILITY
(Sachet)
The capacity of a sealing machine is 2000 sachets per hour.
This is equivalent to 100 bags per hour.

If the production is limited to 500 bags per day, initially and all products is marketed, the total sales per day will be 500bags x N100 for one bag is sold for N100 in Sango Ota, major parts of Lagos State, Portharcourt, Warri, Calabar, Uyo, Owerri etc.
But in Ibadan, Iwo road and Ojoo, Sachet water still sells for N60 per bag and retail at N5 per satchet.

The daily gross in common Lagos area is not less than N50,000.
If the daily expense is not more than N20,000, then the net daily income will be N30,000 daily.

This business is a lucrative one if properly monitored and returns on Investment is guaranteed.

(Bottled)
The Capacity of the machine is 400 bottles per hour.
Which is equivalent to 33 packs per hour.

If the production is limited to 250 packets per day, initially and all products is marketed, the total sales per day will be 250packs x N400 for one pack is sold for N400 almost in all parts of the country and retail at N100 per bottle.

The daily gross is not less than N100,000.
If the daily expense is not more than N50,000, then the net daily income will be N50,000 daily.

Again, this business is a lucrative one if properly monitored and returns on Investment is guaranteed.
