HappyJoe: Nigeria's entire GDP wasn't up to N150 billion in 1973 and the Nigerian Airways didn't employ 10,000 (the entire Federal Civil Service barely employed 10,000 people then).

Anyone who believes this crap must have his/her head examined - anyway that is the problem with our educational system.
1 naira in 1973 was MORE than one dollar so they are saying the airline was making a profit of about $200 billion in 1973

In thoses days a flight from Lagos to PH was 28 Naira so they would need to carry 5 billion passengers annually to make that amount as TURNOVER never mind as profit. We are talkin at a time when PH airport was that strip next to Bori camp NOT Omagwa

the incumbent leader is trying to revive it
every govt that came to power will always said that they will revive it but at the end they wont. If GEJ can revive it either before 2015 or 2019, then kudos to him but if he cant then shame on him like every other past leader.

I am appaled at the hypocrisy of those who destroyed the Nigerian state, Mr Ilmuguboy.
Allow the man who is trying to repair the damages your fathers made to do so in peace!
That is all.

Stop the pretense.....who are those that destroyed the Nigerian state? Are you by any mean saying the Ibos have been out of the Nigeria bureacracy until the GEJ Presidency.

Those that destroyed this country are in ALL tribes in Nigeria....stop excluding Ibos from the problem of Nigeria

You guys are just so comfortable with lying.

Theres actually a way around it. You still have men like Buhari and Ribadu that abhor corruption, utilize them at the highest helm and watch your fortunes turn around.

They are no different from other Air-hostesses around the world during that era.

Thank you very much, it is obvious the quality of education we had in the 50's and 60's is far superior to the rubbish we have today. Common Arithmetic they cannot comprehend, ask them to analyse figures you have finished them and they are busy posting hausa did this Yoruba did that but their kinsmen are angels.

The speed with which they detoured to ethnic bashing from the OP speaks a lot about their level of IQ. And you still think Nigeria is not doomed?

All those you mentioned are only after their own interests and have nothing to offer. They are all politicians without principle. The common man who allows these rich policians to toss him around is the major problem. I can only be optimistic when the citizens begin to know and understand their rights, realise the these bloody politicians are but slaves to the citizens.

But we are far from realising that.

First of all.. the biggest cancer eating the nigerian state is *poverty*. And until that is taken away, nothing good would ever come out of the citizenry.

but it's a known fact that after the civil war Yoruba took over all technocrat positions in the civil service. THE LOOTING AND WRECKING HAS KNOWN NO BOUNDS since. Obj brought in seasterners and Nigeria started moving forward again.yaradua brought back the ones with the "sadim " touch and we retrogressed. Now Gej to the rescue.

Can u imagine UAE, kenya, Ethiopia coming to learn Nigeria's magic in aviation? Fast forward to 2014 how can we compare to these countries in aviation? They all have thriving national carriers. UAE having one of the best in the world. Naija I hail thee.

Libya has a population of 6 million and a landmass more than Nigeria's, more oceanline and proximity to europe! If they arent better off then they must all be foools in that enclave! Compare Nigeria to Bangladesh to begin with, cos we seem to have more simialrities with them!
