Aguleri And Nri Are Not The Founders Or Head Of All Igbo Communities. by RareDiamond: 7:01pm On Jul 18, 2014
The Igbos migrated from different places so are the Yorubas and Hausas. IT IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG TO ASSUME THAT NDI IGBO MIGRATED ONLY FROM THE NRI AND AGULERI COMMUNITIES. In my own opinion Nri migrated from Aguleri and if we have to follow Igbo traditions then Aguleri is the first son of Eri since Agulu descendants are inhabiting the home of Eri.

It is important to note that many of the Igbo communities in Delta state and Anambra north senatorial zone as well as few communties in Nsukka zone trace their origin from Nri, Awka and Aguleri, with Nri playing a leading role. This is does not mean that all communities from these areas trace their origin to them, as some communities trace their origin to other Igbo communities.

It is equally important to note that Ndi Igbo were already occupying the land before the arrival of Eri and Nri when he migrated out of Aguleri. According to oral tradition and history when Eri arrived at the present Aguleri, he met some people already settled there who are in the Okpu village of Aguleri. When Nri arrived his present location from Aguleri he met the Umudiana / Adamas already settled. Nri adapted to the Umudianas who are considered first born and the Owners of Eze Nri. They have the power to overrule the decisions of Eze Nri. When Onogu one of the children of Eri arrived Igbariam he met an Igbo group already settled there. When Ogodudu / Diodo arrived at Amanuke they met the Awkas already settled there. So Ndi Igbo have been existing before Eri and Nri.

MOST IGBO COMMUNITIES ( NOT ALL ) TRACE THEIR ORIGIN TO THESE AXIS :

1 NRI - AWKA AXIS

2 ORLU - ISU AXIS

3 OKIGWE - MBANO AXIS

4 OWERRI - MBAISE AXIS.

5 IZZI - EZZA AXIS

For instance Asaba in delta state was founded by some blacksmith from Awka in Anambra State led by Eze Anyanwu. They were followed by some migrants from Njeze in Anambra state. Njeze was founded by descendants of Iguedo from Aguleri / Umueri. Ishiagu community of Delta State traced its origin from Awka while Okpanam in Delta State traces its origin from Anam in Anambra State while Anam traces its origin from Njeze who traced its own origin from Umueri / Aguleri. Arochukwu whose descendants have established many communities was founded by 3 persons led by Eze Agwu who most probably came from the Okigwe cultural areas. The Ngwas of Abia, Etche - Ikwere as well as the Ngor Areas most probably came from the Owerri - Mbaise cultural areas. Many communities in Orlu zone, Ihiala, akokwa, most probably came from the Orlu - Isu cultural areas. Many communities in Ebonyi north and central most probably came from the Izzi - Ezza cultural areas.

YES AGULERI AND NRI PLAYED SIGNIFICANT ROLES IN ESTABLISHING SOME IGBO COMMUNITIES JUST AS SEVERAL OTHER COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP WITH NRI OR AGULERI PLAYED VERY SIGNIFICANT ROLES IN ESTABLISHING MANY IGBO COMMUNITIES AND TOWNS WITHIN AND OUTSIDE SOUTH EAST.

ALSO NOTE THAT WHEN ODUDUWA ARRIVED ILE IFE HE MET THE UGBOS ALREADY SETTLED THERE AND NOT ALL YORUBA COMMUNITIES TRACE ITS ORIGIN FROM ODUDUWA OR ILE IFE. EXAMPLES ARE THE OGUS WHO ARE THE FIRST SETTLERS OF LAGOS WHO CAME FROM BENIN REPUBLIC, COMMUNITIES IN LAGOS ISLAND WHO TRACE THEIR ORIGINS TO BENIN, EDO STATE, ILAJES E.T.C

Trash! What do u know about igbo people? Tell us the dead languages in igboland if igbos migrate from different places. Or do the various migrating groups speak igbo in their various places of origin. Nobody is saying that every igboman migrated from nri/awka/aguleri, we are just saying that we are of the same source/stock with them.

Very true. I don't understand this fuss about Nri or Aguleri. Definitely, if they migrated from Israel or wherever, they met other Igbo people on ground. So they cannot claim that their land is the ancestral homestead of all Igbo people.

Igbos come from Gaza strip where Hamas are fighting today. When are igbos going back home? Among the numerous tribes in Nigeria who definitely migrated from one place to their present location, I have not seen another tribe whinnying about wherever they came from like confused Igbo? The igbos are confused about their own history and one idiot was writing the other day about that of Yoruba and FFK.

Yeye ppl

Igbos are confused they don't even know their origin. No wonder they claim everywhere, an attempt to locate where they belong I think.
