it's been an intriguing season in formula 1 especially with the championship battle between Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and nico roseberg. the German is ahead of Hamilton with 14points but the racing gods has not been kind to Hamilton having retired twice this season to roseberg single retirement, Hamilton has also had technical failures in qualifying but the 2008 world champion is leaving no stone unturned. Reigning world champion, Sebastian vettel has endured his most difficult season in formula one having been outrun by his rookie teammate Daniel Ricciardo of Australia, vettel is yet to secure a pole position this season and his only podium finish comes in Spain as he finishes 3rd in a race won by Ricciardo. the Australian youngster has proven to be the real deal as he has claimed the only non-Mercedes win of the season. Williams is having a fantastic season also but that is largely due to superb performance of valeri bottas of Finland, Felipe massa's has endured a very difficult season as has been unable to finish 5 races. evergreen driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has been superb also but there's little he could do with the "out of the world" pace of the Mercedes.his teammate and former world champion, Kimi Raikkonen has not been that fantastic and speculation is that the italian outfit might drop him next season. pastor Maldonado has also improved his record as the dirtiest formula one driver in recent years as he has had 5 crashes already. his lotus teammate, Roman Grosjean of France has been able to maintain the momentum for the team. for me, the best race of the season so far has to be Bahrain grand prix where we see some wheel-to-wheel drive from teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Roseberg. there's also controversy in Monaco grand prix when Nico Roseberg deliberately brings out yellow flag to terminate Lewis Hamilton's flying lap in the qualifying session in order to secure the pole position. Roseberg eventually claimed victory. this promises to be a very interesting page here... so if you're a formula one lover, you've found yourself in the right place |

WELCOME TO HUNGAROROING- the home of Hungarian grand prix. Lewis Hamilton looks in good shape to score a vital pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix after setting the pace in final practice. The Mercedes driver, who has not been on pole for five races, beat team-mate Nico Rosberg by 0.047 seconds Hamilton heads into Sunday's race wanting to cut Rosberg's14-point championship advantage ahead of Formula 1's four-week summer break. The Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo were third and fourth. Rosberg had three attempts at setting a fast lap in the final minutes of the session and although he edged closer he could not beat Hamilton's mark. The German set a time on his first lap that was 0.453secs slower than Hamilton's opening gambit but had lost time running wide at Turn 12. He closed to within 0.229secs and then 0.047secs on his next two flying laps, while Hamilton returned to the pits before the end of the session. The Englishman has been fastest in all three practice sessions at the Hungaroring this weekend. Williams' Valtteri Bottas was fifth, ahead of the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Alonso was 0.049secs quicker than Raikkonen despite running wide at the first corner on his fastest lap. McLaren's Kevin Magnussen was eighth, ahead of the Toro Rossos of Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat, the second Williams of Felipe Massa and Jenson Button's McLaren. Button was 0.6secs slower than Magnussen and again appears to be struggling to match the Danish novice's pace. Qualifying session starts by 1:00pm Nigerian time..... see you then |

Lewis Hamilton fought up from a pit lane start and a first-lap spin to finish third as Daniel Ricciardo beat Ferrari's Fernando Alonso to win a sensational Hungarian Grand Prix. And there may well be words behind the scenes at Mercedes after Hamilton refused orders to let team-mate Nico Rosberg pass by during the race. Hamilton judged a thrilling wet-dry race perfectly to hold off title rival Rosberg, who finished fourth. The result reduced Hamilton's deficit to Rosberg to 11 points. A spectacular last 10 laps featured a three-way scrap for the lead, with Ricciardo passing Alonso for the victory with three laps to go.That left the Spaniard to desperately hold off Hamilton and the rapidly closing Rosberg over the remaining three laps. |

so after a 4 weeks break formula 1 returns this weekend in spa Belgium. it was an intense first half of the season and the second season promises to be more interesting. the Red Bulls seems closing up the overwhelming performance gap between themselves and Mercedes, while the in house championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Roseberg will also be reignited. ever competitive Fernando Alonso will also be in the frame after his second place position last time out in Hungary while valteri bottas of Williams will also be looking to continue his impressive form so far. can the reigning champion Sebastian vettel drive his way up the standing? see you on friday practice sessions |

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo took an unexpected victory in the Belgian Grand Prix after a clash between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Hamilton suffered a puncture when the two Mercedes drivers, battling for the world title, collided on lap two. Rosberg's front wing was damaged in the clash but it was changed at his first stop and he fought back to take second. Rosberg is now 29 points ahead of Hamilton, equalling the biggest lead he has held at any point this season. Williams' Valtteri Bottas took third ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. Rosberg passed both after a late pit stop to put pressure on Ricciardo, who gambled on staying out on older tyres and held on to win by three seconds. But the race will be remembered for the incident between Hamilton and Rosberg on the second lap - which was presumably the cause of the boos Rosberg received on the podium. Hamilton, starting second, had snatched the lead from his team-mate at the start, as Rosberg also lost a place to Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel. Rosberg reclaimed second place from the world champion up the long Kemmel straight, and a lap later closed in on Hamilton in the same place. The Englishman defended to the inside and Rosberg tried to pass him around the outside of the first right-handed part of Les Combes. The move did not come off and as Hamilton turned into the left-handed part of the chicane, his left rear tyre was caught by Rosberg's front wing endplate, damaging the wing and puncturing Hamilton's tyre. |

Lewis Hamilton beat Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg at the Italian GP to take his first pole position in four months. Hamilton, seeking to close Rosberg's 29-point championship lead, had not qualified at the front of the grid since the Spanish Grand Prix in May, seven races ago. The tension between the two Mercedes drivers following their collision at the Belgian Grand Prix two weeks ago was palpable - they did not shake each other's hand as they emerged from their cars at the end of the session. And asked in the post-qualifying news conference whether the team's demand that they do not crash again would be "ringing in their ears" as they race down to the first corner on Sunday, Hamilton replied with a cutting: "It won't be ringing in my ears." |

Lewis Hamilton took pole position from team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg by a tiny fraction in a thrilling qualifying session in Singapore. Hamilton was just 0.007 seconds quicker than Rosberg as Mercedes faced a threat from rivals Red Bull and Ferrari. Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo set the standard on the final run in the top 10 shoot-out but was pipped by 0.173secs. Ricciardo was third from team-mate Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso. "Damn it," Rosberg said over the radio, when he realised he had been beaten by the narrowest of margins in probably the closest qualifying session of the year. The German leads Hamilton by 22 points in the championship and a victory by either in the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday would be a significant blow in their intense battle for the title. But they will not have the race their own way, judging by the closeness of the opposition. Hamilton and Rosberg were only sixth and seventh fastest after the first runs in final qualifying, beaten by both Williams cars, Ricciardo and both Ferraris. Kimi Raikkonen, only 0.023secs slower than team-mate Alonso on the first runs, was taken out of the fight early when his engine hit trouble on his preparation lap for the final shoot-out. The last few seconds were thrilling as Ricciardo set the pace with a lap of one minute 45.854 seconds, only to be beaten by Rosberg before Hamilton leapfrogged them bo |

Lewis Hamilton took the lead of the world championship for the first time since May with victory in the Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton's title rival and Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg retired with electronics problems to slip three points behind with five races to go and 150 points available. Hamilton briefly lost the lead to Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel at his final pit stop but soon swept past to take his seventh win. Vettel took second after a fight with Daniel Ricciardo and Ferrari's Fernando Alonso. |

Hamilton fastest in second practice in Japan... Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in second practice in the Japanese Grand Prix, beating team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg by 0.24 seconds. The two Mercedes drivers were in a league of their own, more than a second clear of the rest of the field. Williams's Valtteri Bottas was third ahead of McLaren's Jenson Button and Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel at Suzuka. The two Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso were sixth and seventh respectively. But no-one looked like they had a chance of challenging Hamilton and Rosberg at the latest stage of their tense battle for the title. |

Lewis Hamilton beat Mercedes team-mate and title rival Nico Rosberg to pole position at the inaugural Russian GP. The championship leader was 0.2 seconds clear of the German as Williams's Valtteri Bottas lost a chance of a front-row spot with a mistake. The Finn was fastest after the first two sectors but ran wide at the last corner. He took third ahead of Jenson Button's McLaren and the Toro Rosso of the impressive Daniil Kvyat. "Pole is a great place to start," said Hamilton, 29. "It's great to come here. It's a beautiful place, the weather's been amazing and I'm really enjoying driving this track. "It wasn't the easiest of sessions. Rosberg and Bottas were looking quite strong and hooking up a good lap wasn't the same as practice. It will be tough tomorrow in the race. It is a long way down to Turn One. We'll see how that works out." |
