It was a normal day.....
Like every other day.
Struggle to wake up-
Fighting to leave the soft bed
And my loving husbands arm;
That's wen he remembers to hold me.
Searching for what to wear,
What to cook, hoping to do it all before 8:30am.
Finally finishing at 8:45am.
I find myself at work finally!
Oh, it's gonna be a good day.
I touch my belle and i remember! Its real! I am pregnant!
I grab my tab- which acts as my bible,
Pray to God and thank him.
Hours pass by!
Patient with different complaints,
O yes! I forgot to mention, i am a medical doctor!
Finally she walks in. After i yelled her name 5x.

A lady in mid twenties,
Pretty, good dressing taste, nice perfume.
No make up, a hand bag and a referal note!
I collect it! it reads- the patient is showing signs of immunosupression,
Pls investigate!
I ask her whats the problem is!
She starts telling me

Where a,b,c,d,e....h all adds up to support my likely diagnosis.
I ask her to open her mouth, check for C.
And continue the examination.
I look at her! Think how wld she ve gotten it!
Well whats my business, i tell myself.
So i tell her,
Ese, u will do a test! Its free here, it's called HIV test!
She replies, um i dont wanna do it., just treat me! Pls!
I spend 20mins explaining to her the importance of doing it!
And the possible outcomes!
She tells me!
If it is positive i will kill myself!
She starts sobbing!
Crying!
Wailing! Crying!
All the while her hand robbing her rosary on her neck!
I scribbled something on the laboratory request form!
(Pls let me knw the result before the patient does)
She finally leaves the office to the lab!
I continue seeing other patients.....
Finally
The lab girl enters, Dr this is the result and walks out!
The result is POSITiVE! On determine and rapid test!

ok,what next?

I see so many patients....
Esp HIV positive once,
Probably because i work in a HIV center,
Usually i try to be professional but this case is different.
It got to me!
Ese, tak it easy. I said
"How can i take it easy, haaaa Daniel!
Daniel!!!! U ve killed me she said"
I didnt wanna be too forward,
I was already in too deep!
While holding her hands, another lady enters;
Pls wait outside i said,
No, i am her elder sister.
I said ok! Well go and meet the nurses and tell them u are for counseling!
Then come back.
She kept saying, "Daniel" oh Daniel !!!!
I went to d sink,
washed my hands and called d next patient!
