Nigerian Customs Seizes N2.1bn Worth Of Goods Between April And June, 2014 by teeebugs: 6:46am On Aug 01, 2014
Goods valued at N2.1 billion, which entered into the country through illegal sources were seized by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) between April and June, 2014.

This is contained in the service’s “Summary of Suppression of Smuggling/Seizure Report” made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja.

The report said that the impounded goods included vehicles, motorcycles, furniture, narcotics/hard drugs, pharmaceuticals as well as rice, frozen poultry and petroleum products.

According to the report, the goods were recovered in 2.060 seizures during the period and the duty payable on the goods was N452.8 million.

The breakdown of the impounded items during the period showed that vehicles were 567, motorcycles, 93; arms and ammunition, 120 and 68,856 bags of rice.

The report also revealed that 27,183 cartons of frozen poultry were impounded and destroyed, while 1,661 cartons of beverages and confectioneries were seized during the period................
