Together until one of you CROAKS! Six hour wedding ceremony held for FROGS.
THESE two frogs have been tied together in holy matrimony until one of them CROAKS. More than a thousand guests turned up to watch a SIX HOUR wedding ceremony between a pair of amphibians. The two frogs were give specially made outfits for the ceremony and after they were married they were set free to enjoy their life of wedded bliss. The hundreds of guests then sat down to eat dinner where more than 900 plates of food were served. The unique ceremony was held in the Indian village of Dibrugarh in the state of Assam. They believe holding the amphibian ritual will bring rainfall during dry spells. Ranjan Das, one of village leaders who attended the
wedding, said: "Our region had not witnessed much rain this year so far. "So we arranged the wedding of two frogs to please the rain Gods." The ritual began by catching hold of a male and a female frog from two different villages. Mr Das said the Gods would only accept their plea for rain if the frogs were brought from the separate areas. People from around four villages attended the ceremony on Sunday. Paromita Gogoi, who attended the ceremony, said: "Traditional prayers were recited by the saints who conducted the wedding. It was a joyful affair." It seems that the villagers prayers were answered as after the ceremony was held it has been raining across Dibrugarh since morning today. Ms Gogoi added: "We let the frogs go, so that they can live their life and convey our message to the rain
Gods. "This ritual is performed as a last resort measure.
