Dangote, Blackstone To Invest N825bn (~$5billion) In Power by Nobody: 7:07am On Aug 06, 2014 |
Dangote Industries and Blackstone yesterday announced a commitment to jointly invest up to N825billion ($5billion) over the next five years in energy infrastructure projects across sub-Saharan Africa with a particular emphasis on power, transmission and pipeline projects. The investment is facilitated by Black Rhino, a portfolio company of Blackstone Energy Partners and affiliated funds managed by Blackstone, and Dangote Industries. While Dangote Industries is the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa, and one of the largest in Africa, Blackstone Energy Partners is Blackstone’s energy-focused private equity business with a successful record built on Blackstone’s industry expertise and partnerships with exceptional management teams, based in the United States of America. Blackstone has invested approximately $7 billion of equity globally across a broad range of sectors within the energy industry. Dangote Industries’ commitment to investments in Nigeria and across the African continent has played a significant role in Africa’s recent economic success. Led by its founder, president and chief executive officer, Aliko Dangote, Dangote Industries’ businesses span manufacturing, logistics, commodities trading and real estate across 14 African countries. The two internationally acclaimed companies have agreed to jointly incorporate, own and operate a management company that would be responsible for the development and management of projects identified and agreed upon across the sub- Saharan African. Yet GEJ is not working, according to die-hard propangadist of the Aggrieved Peoples Congress. So what is attracting investors? Economist will tell you its good economic space. Just like the privatization and deregulation of the telecoms sector in 2002, the power sector in Nigeria will experience a great turnaround IN A MATTER OF TIME. GEJ has laid the foundation. It is necessary to return him in 2015 so those Asiwaju Puppets Crew will not take the glory on another mans effort. GEJ till but no further than 2019. 34 Likes |

Would be a waste of Money. How much is the total amount that have been injected so far? Unless he will supervise the project himself, if not it would be like pouring water into a basket. 1 Like |

Hmmn what has GEJ got to do with private investors? Africa is a big land of oppurtunity for investors and trust me , they will get their money back.. The cost will be passed on to consumers (It is not free) so expect a hike in power price but be certain to get what you pay for. 14 Likes |
