I passed out of service one the 14th of february, and returned to lagos with high expectations, let me also add that I was never a bad student in the university, by God's grace, I didn't fail any course, nd I graduated with a 2.1. When I returned to lagos, I attended some tests and interviews, got no response, the only response I got was from those scammers asking for 9500 to train u and those DSA jobs with ridiculous targets. On the 5th of may, I decided to pick up a teaching job somewhere close the school offered to pay me 10k and even though friends and relatives adviced me against taking it, I decided to took the offer because I was already tired of staying at home doing nothing. At the end of the term, the owner of the school said I wouldn't be part of the summer lesson (he didn't like my idea of going out for interviews at all) he said he wasn't happy with the way I worked (God knows I gave my best to the students and never missed writing or submiting my lesson notes). I therefore decided that I'd not return to the school even when schools resume. I'm searching for any other school or any small job now, while I keep praying that something big comes up. I've not lost hope, and I won't lose hope. I believe we'd all get to our destinations, it's just a matter of time. My advice to all in this same sitiuation, is; don't allow anybody make u feel worthless, keep developing yourself in any way you can, keep applying and keep hoping. And if you'd accept any small stop gap job, make sure it is not one that would tie you and expect you to sit with them like you have no other ambitions. Don't forget, the key word is, "NEVER LOSE HOPE"

luvola: I am a bookworm while in the university having graduated with 2.1 bsc accounting but right now ,I am below average in aptitude test due to low moral , fustration . Finished service last year june so it 13months of job hunting and still counting . I have lost confidence in such a way that I now believe I can never pass an aptitude test again. Even a nairalander still called me a fustrated over age job seeker 2 days ago using my predicament to abuse me . Well I can't blame him ,na condition make cray fish head bend. I will be heading to several audit firms tomorrow to drop CVs ,hope I see God's favour.
i believe ur still brillant and can change the tide. I will advice u buy a gmatt textbook and start practicing. U can start @ 15mins per day. I just read that some guys waited 3 years...so dont loose hope

Hello, I stumbled upon this thread and felt to chip in. I can relate with everyone's experience.....been there.
However, I've always been 1 of the opinion not to wait for any company, relative to come to my rescue, if we need a change we have to take responsibility for our destiny and so, it would be not nice of me if I do not share with you how I did this
I attended a seminar that changed my orientation and not to brag, I'm living fine, well above average....you will not know till you know ie to find out how...
You cannot make a change by doing the same thing....a lot of people (parents, siblings, relatives, friends) are watching and expectant of You.
My dear friends, I will share with you this opportunity if you can simply mail me on nonyezcharles@gmail.com
I no dey to scam anybody pls....if you are not interested, you need not mail me.
Have a pleasant day.

and what has their gender got to do with it?
Be attentive, keep your eyes and ears open. Put ALL your trust in God. I got my present job not because I was female or pretty, but because I never stopped searching and bothering God..my point is,when you feel ppl are doing well, find out their secret and not sit on ur bottom and make weird assertions. If you know the number of wicked regret mails some of those girls got before they landed a job, you will weep for them.

I'm also in the boat of Feb 13,
Though I was engaged in an internship after service, got a bad job in June(long working hours, instead of being appreciated for the extra hours you work, you get querried for the days you don't get to work beyond your closing hours.. it's not like there's any extra pay attached to that and topped with a so meagre salary)..quitted about a month after and.. the search continues....We continue to have Faith and Hope..God be with us

where does one start telling the story from when you passed out from service in Oct 2012.
remember attending an interview on the 7th of January 2014 and I asked the interviewer if he had any reservations about my application. he said not exactly, but didn't fail to remind me that I have been jobless for 15months.....with a smile though. (looking forward to consulting for them in the nearest future)
to cut the long story short, got a shift job after 17 months and it allows me the luxury of applying for other jobs, and pays me enough to subscribe for BIS. Met ednut1(he posted his experience on the first page) going to work one morning when I was returning from night shift. the guy almost run before I call masagoody of nairaland.
My point....Nothing last forever. don't be completely idle during your waiting period.I was and it wasn't funny. I still got a question about what I did within that 17months of waiting at an interview I attended last month.
For me, its an evolving story and am enjoying it all the way. The one who wrote the manuscript has my utmost good at heart and as such, it can only end up in praise.God bless your hustle!

Here seems like a nice sharing online group,so many experiences and its kind of comforting knowing you ain't alone especially me.Haven't been easy since February especially without even one parent existing but God knows best,we should learn to lean on him in both good and bad times meaning forever..we are not alone cause he's with us always,we should just have it in mind that time do take care of things..I know many of us here have waited for one thing or the other could be getting the required credits for the o'level or writing jamb like forever not to leave out waiting to be called for service, but despite all odds we are here done with our first degrees in our various field.God kept us giving us the gift of life till this very moment....therefore we shall never fall or falther till we get to our God ordained higher purpose in what ever we all choose to do...like I always say delay is definitely not denial..just try not to be 100% idle cause surely our efforts will surely be crowned with medals...Love u all with the love of God.

I completed my nysc last year Feb. 2013, till date I haven't secure a job. The most fustrating aspect of it is that I was working b4 i left 4 d nysc, had my own apartment but all dat become a history as I now squat wit a friend who is even tired of me. I have travelled, attended some interviews, all to no avail. I jez hope God is watching.

Mine was 4months. I'll never forget it, I felt like a living corpse, thank God he took that reproach from me. I believe being pro-active and steadfast is key. Never give in to frustration, always tell urself ur breakthrough is at the corner.
Ask people(possibly cold calling or unsolicted app n dn't feel ashamed), browse job sites like mad(how I got addicted to NL n got my 1st job), share ur CV to ur pple u know, liase with ur fellow job husslers(hw I got my 2nd job), always being on d street(being at idle at home kills a man's spirit), develop ur gmat n shl skills, tite cv,prepare well for each exam or interview, pray always......it's an endless list and a 6 unit course for a job seeker.
It will be a thing of the past one day

Finish service on feb 2014, a 2.1 grad of unilag, wth hse n proj mgt certs. I returned back 2 lag frm ebonyi(nysc) wth high hopes. Started applyin d very next day i returned online for 1month, den i changed strategy to (online n offline cv application). Almost everyday i dress corporate armed wth my cv in d morning i distribute dem to companies directly at strategic locations like a marketer, and evenings wen coys hav closed, i apply online at home (smart isn't it). Backed my deeds wth prayer and commitments. Now i got a job at cway on april, my offline paid off faster dan online. As i walked into d company at oshodi wthout an invitation, i told d gatemen i want to see d HR dat it is official (wth boldness) and i was granted. I met her told her my plight, she told me dat actually one slot is vacant, dat she has little tym to browse thru cv's, i gave her mine in person, i was qualified n fits in, she took me the manager, interview n test done, i am a QC there now. Pay is good for a start and i have time to attend intervws at bigger coys (i don dey select work now, ℓ☺ℓ). Its God tho. Hope u learnt sometime. God bless you and give yu foresight, Amen!!!!
