yarnings: I hate APC,but there is no way omisore of PDP will win ogbeni of APC in any free/unfree,credible/uncredible,peaceful or not, ogbeni will beat omisore in all tactics,RAUF is not new in the game.He was once quoted to have told oyinlola b4 d 2007 election that if oyinlola was backing on rigging the election that he sud cum down to LAGOS so that dey cud teach dem how to rig.rauf vs omisore equals thug 4 thug, tout for tout, mafia 4 mafia,DON 4 DON,grassroot network 4 grassroot network........but rAUf got gud performance record than omisore.gud credibility than omisore, personaliy level obgeni is above omisoreaw I wish civil servants and aggrieved traders whose shops were demolished cared. d problem is DAT in saner climes performance should guarantee one victory in an election but in Nigeria where 1+1 doesn't necessarily give 2, its really difficult to know what d people want. so don't b surprised if omisore wins 2mao, even without rigging, cos our democracy is complicated and quite funny. 4 Likes |

Reporting from Ile-Ife. As at the morning of 8th August, Banks did not open. And there are lots of security personnel at the Moore police station. I sighted security personnels doing their work at Mayfair and campus gate. Omisore from PDP also distributed Rice to round up his campaign. So far, atmosphere is cool. Channels TV also reported that roads going out and coming in to Osun has been blocked as at 6pm. GREAT IFE. 2 Likes |

Well all these derailing are expected, and the politicking are also expected from some party loyalists. I still plead with those who are here to cause trouble to please steer away from this thread. At least you can create another thread to abuse one another or indulge in what you are used to there. This thread is meant to educate Nigerians on happenings here in osun as they unfold. Thanks all. |

Osun Election: INEC confirms arrest, release of its officials over suspicious movement of electoral materials The Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] on Friday confirmed that two of its officials in Osun State were arrested over suspicion that they were trying to divert electoral materials. The commission, however, said the officials, one of which is the Electoral Officer for Obokun Local Government Area, were released by security agencies after INEC explained the reason for their actions. Some vigilante youth in Osun State had reportedly intercepted and arrested a truck full of ballot papers meant for Saturday’s governorship election in the state. The truck was allegedly intercepted in Obokun Town, Obokun Local Government Area, in the wee hours of Friday along with the driver and three men who claimed to be INEC officials. In a statement by Kayode Idowu, the media aide to the INEC Chairman, the Commission said its investigation into the matter showed that although two officials were arrested, both men did not deliberately act the way they did. “The bid to retrieve the non-sensitive materials triggered suspicion of something untoward among the communities, some of which resisted the retrieval,” Mr. Idowu said. “A number of them alerted security agents, who promptly arrested the EO and the officer who had distributed the non-sensitive materials. “The EO and his officer have since been released and they have gone on with their duties, following the Commission’s investigation and satisfactory explanation to the security agencies about the true nature of the incident.” The INEC chairman’s spokesperson said, “This statement is to clear the air over the widely circulating report, especially on online sites, which suggested that the integrity of the process leading up to the Osun State Governorship Election on August 9, 2014, has been compromised,” it said. “Investigation shows that no sensitive materials were diverted, neither was any official of INEC caught in cohort with political partisans.” The Commission explained that the EO of Obokun Local Government had, at some point on Wednesday, discussed and agreed with all stakeholders, including political parties in his LGA, that sensitive and non-sensitive materials would be distributed together once the sensitive materials were received at the INEC LGA office. It further said early on Thursday morning, all EOs in Osun State were asked to report to Osogbo to collect sensitive materials for their respective LGAs, hence why the Obokun EO and one of his officers left for the state capital to collect the materials. It stated that while they were in Osogbo, the EO realised that mattresses needed for operating the Registration Area Centres, RACs, which ought to have been delivered at the RACs, had not been distributed. Consequently, it explained further, he (EO) sent back his officer to go distribute the mattresses to all the RACs. The Commission said the officer assigned the task misinterpreted the instruction and, rather than distribute only the mattresses, began to distribute non-sensitive materials as well – contrary to the earlier agreement between the EO and political parties. “The EO returned to the LGA office around 7pm on Thursday with sensitive materials for his jurisdiction and, on learning that the officer had overreached his instruction, became concerned about the breach of the agreement he had with the political parties and other stakeholders. He immediately ordered the retrieval of the non- sensitive materials from all RACs. “The bid to retrieve the non-sensitive materials triggered suspicion of something untoward among the communities, some of which resisted the retrieval. A number of them alerted security agents, who promptly arrested the EO and the officer who had distributed the non-sensitive materials. “The EO and his officer have since been released and they have gone on with their duties, following the Commission’s investigation and satisfactory explanation to the security agencies about the true nature of the incident.” INEC said, for the avoidance of doubt, sensitive materials were not involved in the incident and that sensitive materials from the State INEC Headquarters arrived at the LGA long after the non-sensitive materials had been distributed. The Commission also said there was absolutely no truth to the claim that the EO or any other staff of INEC was found in a vehicle other than the Commission’s vehicle distributing materials. “That may explain why the only vehicle shown in the various social media reports on the incident was the Commission’s vehicle with registration No.: FG 816 VO1.” INEC reassured the public that it remained committed to ensuring high integrity of the electoral process and delivery of free, fair and credible governorship election in Osun State. |

The whole World Must Hear This APC accuses Osun CP of bribing police, soldiers for PDP AUGUST 8, 2014 BY KAMARUDEEN OGUNDELE Leave a Comment The All Progressives Congress has accused the new Police Commissioner in Osun State, Ibrahim Maishanu, of distributing cash to police personnel and soldiers deployed in the state to skew the Saturday’s governorship election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party. In a statement issued in Osogbo on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party alleged that Maishanu distributed the money at the National Youth Service Corps camp in Ede, after addressing the men. According to the party, the police boss told the men point blank that his mission is to ensure PDP’s victory at the elections. It alleged that the new police boss gave every police officer present N50,000 while other ranks and every non- commissioned soldier received N30,000 and N45,000 each, respectively. ”We salute the courage and patriotism of some security agents who gave us this valuable information, and who have vowed never to do anything to subvert the country’s constitution and its democracy, whether or not they are being lured to do so with filthy lucre. ”The fact that there are still good men and women even in the security agencies that have become highly-partisan gives us hope that our country’s democracy will survive this unprecedented assault from those who swore an oath to uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” APC said. The party wondered where the Police Commissioner got the huge amounts of cash he gave away so casually in order to use security agencies to thwart the will of the people. http://www.punchng.com/news/apc-accuses-osun-cp-of-bribing-police-soldiers-for-pdp/ who we go believe sef i believe you to be an ACN agent. You said the cp wasn't ready to compromise and rig for pdp, then replaced.but the report on punch says otherwise. 3 Likes |
