eagleu: If true as reported, why we're the soldiers not backed up by these so called alpha jets from day 1?
hahahah alpha ki. Those planes are trainers and fighter jet not attack jets the are useless in terms of taking out targets on the ground. What we need is Attack helicopters for support in combat in large no

Our military is a dignified and disciplined force, so they don't respond to such alarmist news item.
I can only believe sowore when he physically locates himself in maiduguri or damaturu. Our boys are destroying the boko terrorists, don't be swayed by sowore's sensationalism
you better wake up lost of our folks are deadly frm enemy fire and its preventable if the right hardwares are available

atlwireles: This constant lie by some groups in this country is worse than boko haram. All your attempts to belittle the Nigerian army is out right dumb. 99.9% of the ones posting this crap are the very people in the cross hair of boko haram. Keep insulting the army, you might have to carry your own gun and take on boko haram, as they are your brothers and friends. Because sooner or later other Nigerians will walk off the battle field for you people.

Those people can tell lies upon lies just to discredit NA.

Enemies of Nigeria state shall fail. embarassed

Quick questions:

WHY HAS THE ARMY NOT ENTERED SAMBISA FOREST TILL DATE?
WHY WAIT TILL BH HOISTED ITS FLAG IN DAMBOA BEFORE RECLAIMING IT?
WHY THE MUTINY OF RETURNING SOLDIER ON THE INCREASE?

WHY DO I GET TO SEE LOTS OF PICTURES OF DEAD SOLDIERS ON FACEBOOK DISPLAYED BY THEIR LOVED ONES?

IdiAmin1: Bros, let's do math 101. If Naija army bomb boko haram hideouts or strongholds, how many civilian casualties do you think will be recorded? Subtract it from the civilian casualties already recorded since boko haram menace started in 2009 and tell me the difference. Waiting for your answer, Mr. Reuben Abatt... undecided
seriously? No comment pls

While I agree that Sahara Reporters is a junk news website, I insist that the highlighted words can not and should not be used to describe the BRT-burning, civilian-oppressing, rascally, and utterly UNDISCIPLINED and UNPROFESSIONAL Nigerian military.

Until those hooligans in uniform begin to understand the basics of civil-military relations, one cannot accord them any esteem or dignity.

Emeca: Due to media censorship, we may neva know just how our 'illustrious' army is faring against these militants.

Guerilla warfare is one of the most energy-sapping, morale-sagging, money-draining system of warfare in the history of mankind. E.g; America v Taliban/AlQaeda, Israel v Hamas/Hezbollah, Ethiopia/Kenya v AlShabab, Iraq/Syria v Islamic State and now Nigeria v Boko Haram.

This instance is not an example of guerilla warfare in any way. An organised terror unit has taken over a whole town, and are fully and openly repelling federal troops attempting to retake the town. That is hardly a hide-n-seek arrangement. It is full-blown, frontal war. The excuses being made by the military about Boko Haram's so-called guerrilla tactics are increasingly untenable.

guerilla warfare is characterized by unconventional tactics including suicide bombing, surprise ambush attacks, etc

boko haram adopts dis tactics because they cant face d Nigerian Army in a full frontal attack. Moreover they dont have d resources the army has like warplanes, tanks, etc. They depend strongly on d element of surprise. Those examples i gave are classic cases. Boko haram is adopting d same tactics of Hamas, Hezbollah, AlShabab, etc

Another name for guerilla warfare is assymetric warfare. Read it up.

Like I said before, unless its politics in play, these militants are not goin away any sooner.

I should ask a lying NA about its shamefaced losses in a war it has criminally compromised on the altar of greed and corruption?
You are as conniving as your senders.
NA is a resounding failure. .....plsss

Pls is Damboa still under bh control? A certain sincere fool was parotting the garbage that the Nigerian army deliberately withdrew from Damboa to teach its inhabitants a lesson.

The only way forward is impeachment, waiting till 2015 might be playing ostrich while goatluck ebola jonathan continues to use his incompetence to misrule this country, people should remember what happened in Mali, lack of weapons made soldiers mutinied and stage a coup, this country cannot continue over a self canibalizing govt. which sows corruption and incompetence.

Nigeria Army nawa hoooooo

BOKO HARAM MAIN WEAPONS :- AA Guns, RPG, GPMG, APC
NIGERIA ARMY MAIN WEAPONS :- AA GUNS, RPG, GPMG, APC, Artillery Shell, Fighter Jets, Attack Helicopters, Armoured Tanks.

The high time we realized we don't have an army the better for us. I think arming the Civilian JTF should be our next priority.

omenka: When you see a kid desperate for attention, you know right away.

@post: I keep wondering, what exactly is the role of the Nigerian Air Force in this battle Why can't we have a situation in which ground troops lure those vampires out of their hideouts and call in air support to finish the job?? What is really going on Is someone deliberately sabotaging the Nigerian Army??

This is so disheartening to say the least.
A GOOD OBSERVATION. LOOKS LIKE MOLES ARE SABOTAGING THE EFFORT OF THE MILITARY.

Nigerian Airforce Should Just replace Nigerian Airways......We need COIN assets yet they went ahead to procure three useless light transport aircrafts.
The army has really been stretched all our brothers out there are facing hell.

How do you even go to retake such a place without standby close air support. The case is seeming hopeless by the day....
