Remove the Pug from your list. Not for you. Nigerian technicians are still struggling to have a grasp of it. The Vibe is Toyota Matrix with another badge. If you get a tokunbo one for that price, I think will be good The altima is a very good and powerful car but you wll soon create a thread asking about fuel economy. The Primera or Almera (wth engine sizes 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0) of similar year is my biggest recommendation for you. Congratulationson your car. 3 Likes |

Thanks all for the advice. How much for your peaguot although someone has already advices to stay away from it. I want to get a Nigerian used Camry 2.4 for 600. Read too many bad reviews about Nissan Altima 05 and Nissan cars generally but the price is right 700/750. Pontiac vibe is 800-900k. Not the way to go I guess. Read a lot of positive reviews but with that amount al get a better car. Any other offers and advice please |

Why not save up to 900k and buy a tokunbo honda babyboy? The ride is cool. Buying a naija used car may look cheap now, but may soon start spending on repairs every now and then. |

Hello poster, I was in your shoes few weeks back but I've managed to arrive at a decision. Here is my advice, to make the decision easier for you. Why do you want to buy a car now (to show off or for convenience). As your first car, you do not want a car that will be expensive to maintain or that will be taking you to the mechanics every now and then (if you are able to buy a cheap Nigerian used). I'd suggest you go for tokunbo of either Toyota corolla(1999-2000) model or a Honda civic(1999-2001) model(you can research the two cars or other cars). I did extensive reviews on these two cars and find out they are both okay to maintain although folks told me to be weary of the Honda (steering issue). Forget about buying a Nigerian used. Except you are buying from a known associate or relative. If you buy from a stranger, even if then person had changed the engine or gear box etc they will not tell you. Give yourself peace of mind and buy a decent tokunbo. 4 Likes |

I'd advise you not to buy a car that has been used in Nigeria though. Nigerians have bad maintenance culture and you will not enjoy the car. |

If you got a car you paid with money and don't maintain it its personal not nigerian- its personal. You ll know a well maintained when you see one 9 Likes |

I do not encourage anyone to buy a car used in Nigeria, especially in lagos, but there are extenuating circumstances. I once bought a Lagos used Nissan Bluebird. The owner lived in 1004 flats and worked at Oceanic Bank on Ozumba Mbadiwe. He was a conc. born again, so i knew he was not doing VI-Mainland runs for parties. Years after i bought the car, my mechanic kept reminding me that if i ever needed to sell the car, he was more than willing to buy. I eventually gave it out as a gift to my cousin upon graduation. He is still using the car more than 4 years after. My point is, you may be able to get a decently used Nigerian car but check the history of the car and the owner very well, otherwise, a tokunbo is still far better. All the best in your search. 5 Likes |
