Akpos was abducted by kidnappers and taken to an unknown location. The kidnappers beat him for a while and asked him, “Which of your family members should we call to pay the ransom.” A surprised Akpos replied: “I don’t have a family now. All my family members ran away after I was suddenly bugged down with fever, intense weakness, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This was followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash… Akpos did not even finish speaking before all the kidnappers jumped out of windows and fled.

We are not illiterates here. Whether it kills bacteria, virus or cockroaches depends on what substance/chemical is being dispensed. It could contain anything from water, to 90% alcohol (which is effective against viruses. Whether it has any effect on viruses depends on WHAT is loaded into the dispenser.

Please do not expose ignorance arrogantly. There is no evidence that they are "ignorant leaders" as you so flippantly claim.
There are many antiviral hand foams on the market and in hospital use e.g

You lack knowledge and sadly you are blissfully unaware. Many viruses are killed on the skin or other surfaces by alcohol and many other sanitizing agents such as Izal http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Advanced-First-Aid-Anti-Viral-Hand-Foam-200ml_1036207/

In all honesty, you defeated your own argument, by making making the statement in bold. You asserted that it "depends on what substance/chemical is being dispensed." However, did they allude to what was used apart from the generic hand sterilizer? And that's if it can actually solve anything - since most academics in the medical field believe it's just window dressing, especially against viruses.

Read the except below, especially the bit in bold(that's for the flu virus):

Allison Aiello summarized data on hand hygiene for the FDA and pointed out that three out of four studies showed that alcohol-based hand sanitizers didn't prevent respiratory infections. Then, in 2008, the Boston group repeated the study—this time in elementary schools—and threw in free Clorox disinfecting wipes for classrooms. Again, the rate of respiratory infections remained unchanged, though the rate of gastrointestinal infections, which are less common than respiratory infections, did fall slightly. Finally, last October, a report ordered by the Public Health Agency of Canada concluded that there is no good evidence that vigorous hand hygiene practices prevent flu transmission

And the fact that you had to post a random product from boots, a company that's trying to maximise its profits, just shows how comical your argument is. Better get those obese duffers and their fvcked faces, to get to work and look for ways to contain the disease - pending when the cure will be available.

Please do not be daft. We are not here to discuss your recent poll of academics on their views on hand sanitizer. If you came out to debate the value that is a different thing instead you started insulting people just to feel that you are important. Viruses are very fragile outside their hosts and are killed by several chemicals. eg alcohol. We are not dicussing flu but Ebola. Some viruses are more vulnerable than others that is true but there are no grounds for abusing the president on this occasion. It just reveals the deep low self esteem of the abuser

You're the one spouting junk everywhere, and the only "proof" you've provided are: assumptions(what's in the hand sanitizer they used) and a generic product on the shelf at boots, a company trying to maximise its profits.

How about provide academic proofs based on medical researches to back up your claims? And where's your proof that viruses can be killed?

And where did I insult you, Mr Smart Ar.se?

I dont have any claims .I am just refuting the abuse that Jonathan is acting ignorantly. He is not. The context is a meeting in which peole would shake hands repeatedly. In that context a 90% hand rub would have antiviral properties and offer some protection. That can be debated elsewhere(nairaland) is not the place for that but it is a reasonable thing for the president to do

You don't have any claims, yet you made assertions about: 1) Content of the hand sanitizer they used 2) Posted a hand sanitizer product on the shelf at boots 3) Asserted that alcohol kills virus.

Anyway, the folks in those pictures need to stop fooling people, and start working. Ebola is real and not the gazillion of MoU's worth billions of dollars they have been signing since like forever, without building anything.

Leave the clowns alone they read somewhere that there is no treatment for viral infections and translate that to mean viruses are indestructible. Half knowledge is often dangerous
