Smh.. This is really embarrassing. Morethan 90percent of nairalanders do not read through a post before dropping comments. I wonder what foreigners who visit this site think of us as people. Smh! I can't seem to find anywhere in the entire article where they asked GEJ not to contest.

Their position, though I don't really agree with them is very clare and simple. Our present constitution doesn't have provision for a referendum so there's no way the so called "new constitution" can fly if we are to follow the rule of law.. Can we amend the current constitution to make provision for referendum..? "NO" according to them and this is because attempts have been made on two occasions through private bills to that but were pushed aside by both the senate and the house of rep so that issue cannot be arisen again under this present legislative dispensation (that's probably a rule.. I don't know). Secondly, if the so called "new constitution" is allowed to sail through somehow then it means everything (politically) that happened under the current constitution will no longer matter. What this implies is that people like Obasanjo or GEJ (that's if he wins in 2015), past governors, etc can still stand for elections as president, governors, etc for fresh tenures under the "new constitution", which is no healthy for us as a Nation.

Please let us stop allowing our emotions have a better part of us and comment on topics like people that are educated abeg.

Another brainless doofus on the loose! GEJ is done and dusted, you can vote for him in iboland or ND, but if he tries nonsense, he will be dealt with in a final way, just like Ironsi and Ojuks, the runaway Abidjan sissy! grin grin The $ 20 B was stolen to buy these delegates at $ 100 M a pop I think!

The response here aptly betrays the intellectual hollowness of the present nigerian youth .the op himself inclusive ,for the records the topic has nothing to do with the article .at best it is a plastic attempt to instigate ethnic war amongst an audience that has taken gullibility and mediocrity to enviable heights .

You cannot be as shocked as I am to read the responses below the post. I think the heading was made to foool the lazy readers. I thought well, Naija logic different from other logic. If it were the same Nlers on the conference, the New constitution would have been passed without any ditection. Lawd have mercy! Just observing. undecided

Doesn't that explain how most Nigerians easily get fooled by our leaders?

I am beginning to fully believe that some people in this Country are so LAZY & uncreative that they had been spoon-fed by Federal Government coffers for decades and are now threatening to commit suicide if the easy money isn't back.

Just two questions:

Is Pres GEJ qualified to contest this 2015 election?

If yes, why can't those who oppose his candidacy, go back to their drawing boards and fashion out ways to woo Nigerians for vote instead heating up the polity with VAIN threats?

The present Government may have its shortcomings ( no Government is perfect, anyway) but these guys may not even be threatening because of his perceived "imperfection" but rather because of WHERE he comes from and this is more the reason, in my opinion, they should at least be questioned
