What was your reaction when you were given agriculture as a discipline to sudy in school? (university,polythechnic,colleges of education)

As for me,i felt humiliated and sad. That,after many years at home i end up offering agriculture (just to plant and weed?). The worst part of it is that, i can not tell my friends my discipline knowing that they will laugh at me.because,most of them gained admission before me with flamboyant courses like MBBS,PHARM,ENGR. And while in secondary school, i always be the first person to descriminate this agric of a thing. Because i saw agric as the most borin subject in line with those endless botanical names..gush!. And as a science student,my area of interest were chemistry,physics,maths and biology. If i was told i wil end up studying agric, i will kill that person. But now,am a graduate of soil science and i swear! i found happiness and hope with agriculture especially area like soil science.....i know i wasn't the only person who had such experience...let hit the point what was your reaction..

No course is inferior if you have the passion for it, but for you, Agriculture is not even a passion and that is a problem.
A Music graduate can achieve more than a doctor if only music is his passion

thank you and noted. Dont know why my mind skip it. Wanted to change it before i posted it.
But am happy with the course right now.

I'm a student of FUTA (Animal Production and Health) 500L. I chose my course right from day one and I'm not regretting it. If everyone decides to study eng., med., mgt etc... I wonder what we'll eat as citizens. The reason why we are still behind today is that, we depend on peasant farmers to produce our food.

There are a number of investments that i personally thinks can never fails, those are the thing we will be discussion here today,but the problem of today's youth is impatience as they are always searching for already made jobs which can not be readily available for all of us, it is only a few that will be able to get that kind of job. haven't said that, it is high time as young Nigerians that we should develops investment mentality in a viable business and stop looking for that already made job. Like I said above, there are a number of investment that you can do that will yield returns within three months. are you following? the number one on the list is Online business. there are many online business out there and also there are many screamers too you must be very careful while making your choice, but i will gives you a little from that list that are very reliable Bulksms business will never fail if you can do proper marketing of your site. information marketing also can never fails as well. websites design is also a viable business, and many more find out yourself.
Aside from that offline business that can not fails are, Water business started like play some years ago till now people are still asking for more.
live stock rearing is the most viable one i like so much poultry, piggery, fishery and many more that you can add to that list.
You can sees now that in Nigeria today we can still have some investment that can fetch you good money without recording any form of failure.

@OP, maybe if I didn't study Animal Science and Agric Biochem and Nutrition, I wouldn't have even stepped out to Cotounu talkless of far abroad. But now, I'm a proud Europe-trained quality control and assurance specialist in livestock industry. I'm happy.

Wow am impressed with the above post and it brings hope because I never thought there is anything good about agricultural I wanted to study microbiology but I was admitted for agricultural economics I had no choice than to take it I hope I will enjoy my 5yrs studying the course

@farouk0403, l will create a thread before the week runs out addressing issues around those studying agriculture related courses. Hoping you graduate with knowledge,not just a certificate! Buhari arrives kenya tomorrow and agriculture is a key talk.
