First step is to register with Copart and fill some documents. Your ID will be needed for the final registration. You can only bid for a vehicle at maximum of $1000 (You only have buying power of $1000) except you put a 10% deposit upfront for the maximum amount of money you wish to bid on a vehicle.

You can either pay the membership fee or choose not to. If you don't pay membership fees, on winning a bid, you pay more for the auction fees etc compared to those who paid member fee. As someone who does not have an auto license, you can only bid on vehicles with "No License Required". If you wish to bid on others, you will have to go through registered brokers as earlier stated.

When you see a vehicle with "minimum bid" written on it, it shows that the seller has given instruction that if bids do not get to a certain amount, it shouldn't be sold. One with "pure sale" means, they sale to the highest bidder even if it is $200 (no minimum bid placed on it). One with "On approval" means the seller will have to give consent to sell to the highest bidder if it meets his demand.

On winning a vehicle, there are other additional money to pay like auction fee, gate pass, storage etc. Your vehicle must be removed from their facility within 3-5 days of winning your bid else, you attract a daily storage fee after deadline.

Arranging for shipping is the next hurdle when you win a bid.... Its topic for another day.
